I've been looking for the 2CD version of "Shadows & Light" for ages and I finally found it, brand new, in HDCD format, for $12.99 at Tower Records. (I must note that it was only at one Tower Records here in Sacramento, the other stores didn't have it) I also found it at a Borders Books & Music for around the same price. Imagine my relief and joy when I learned that I didn't have to fork out such a large sum of money for this (although it would have been worth it if this was the only way to get it). ^ . ^
Also - my version is NOT an import, it's an official domestic Asylum HDCD re-release; so why is it so hard to find? I have no idea but it's a darn shame really.
This double edition of "Shadows & Light" is simply phenomenal; It's still not the complete concert, I think we'll never get that put onto a single DVD or cd set, but it is FAR more complete than the concert video/DVD or the original album release. If your local record store has a good distributor they may just have this release!
Joni Mitchell is, in my opinion, the best artist out there today; she composes the most gorgeous music, writes brilliant lyrics, creates stunning paintings, sketches, and drawings... she is EVERYTHING a musician should be, and more. The world is lucky to have her. ^ . ^
