Just a note to buyers:All three SHAFT films presented as this triple feature are NOT the widescreen versions. Case cover lists them as "Full Frame." 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful

Shaft-Very good movie. Lots of action and a good plot.Shaft's Big Score-Fair movie, but no where as good as Shaft. Shaft in Africa-As good as Shaft. Good story line with plenty of action. Too bad the set did not include Diamond Shaft to complete the series. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

All the Shaft films available on DVD,

Today, I was reading a news item on the TV ON DVD site. The Shaft TV movies, that ran on CBS in the 1970's, will be coming soon to DVD...all seven TV movies will be remastered and released on Warner Archives. So until then, these are the three Shaft films available. Now the problem with this set is that the films are in full screen rather than wide screen. The scope is all wrong to watch these three action films. however, These films are complete and uncut. The problem is the films like many videos of 1970's movies, when transfered to home video were fitted to the TV screen. You lose all side action that widescreen gives you with the pan and scan versions. However if you catch these films on basic cable TV, if they come on earlier than 2am, is that these films are are fitted to the TV screen (like these DVDs are), cut to ribbons and bleeped. You really do not want that if you are watching an action film like these three films are. So these three original theatrical versions are the same I would have saw at the drive-in in the late 70's. The quality of the original film is there. If I have not said it before ,the action of these three films, are non-stop and well done filmmaking. So you can enjoy watching the first three Shaft films..and savor the well crfted storytelling these action films have..until the TV movies come out. Bennet Pomerantz AUDIOWORLD |
