Amazing movie, besides being a true story, the acting is superb and it leaves you emotionally exhausted by the end of the movie.

Let me start off by saying that I happen to like "Hotel Rwanda" especially Don Cheadle's extraordinary performance!! But this film is a masterpiece!!!! A TRUE MASTERPIECE! For those whom read the book like myself, the film captures all the emotions and brings it to a whole new level! Roy Dupuis performance as Dallaire is unlike anything I have ever seen in film. He not only looks the part, but his portrayel was so moving and so deep that I found myself touching the T.V. screen and wanting to reach out and just console him from all that pain. The scenes of him cutting and of passing out drunk were extremely painful to watch. It was nice to see fresh faces and not Hollywood actors. James Gallanders, Deborah Cara Unger, Michel Ange Nzojibwami, and the rest of the cast did an amazing job. Everything in the film was done with such detail, good taste, and alot of heart. The music was the most beautiful I've ever heard in my life, especially the song at the end of the movie called "Kaya" sung by Valanga Khoza and composed by Austrailian David Hirschfelder. I'm very happy that Hollywood didn't screw up this film. This is by far one of the best Canadian films I've ever seen!! The whole horror of the Rwandan genocide is always going to linger with me forever and I can honeslty say that anyone whom watched "Shake Hands with the Devil" will walk away with sorrow, anger, shame, lots of tears, and a new view on the world! This is afilm you'll never forget!

This film is amazing in so many ways: The acting is superb across the board with Roy Dupuis excelling. His physical resemblance to Romeo Dallaire is quite uncanny. The lack of hollywood faces was quite refreshing and less distracting. The cinematograhy is wonderful showing us Rwanda in all its beauty, not just somewhere in Africa. I found the film to be better than Hotel Rwanda, which made me feel physically sick for sometime afterwards. Although the subject matter is inherently unpleasant and there were some horrible scenes, this film did not try to shock but used the fear of the unseen, which I found much more effective. It also gives good historical and political details. This film really is a must see.
