santana is pure joy!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shaman (Audio CD)
i like this album more than "supernatural", it seems to hold more substance, the latter only really containing 2 stand out tracks, "smooth" & "maria, maria", for me."nothing at all" is pure angst genius, great authentic latin music/shamen-style lyrics. "you are my kind" (seal) a totally gorgeous love song. "foo foo" is a big song with a big sound, fun to listen to, but would i'm sure come into it's own played live in a huge arena setting. "america" a great rocking song, with a political statement, a love affair (with the US) that's now lost it's magic ! "ay ay ay" again is a totally blow away latin dance tune, that's irresistable & impossible to sit/stand still to! "one of these days" another political song, i love this one,

A Mix Of Old-School Guitar Heroics And New-School Pop-Rock,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shaman (Audio CD)
With SUPERNATURAL, Carlos Santana learned how to mix his old-school guitar heroics with current pop-rock, but on SHAMAN, he perfects it. Whoever is shouting about how this album is a sellout DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT! This album is a wonderful mix of various styles, and even has Michelle Branch singing more soulfully than on her own CDs. On "America", with P.O.D., Carlos even experiments with a Montrose/Foghat/Ted Nugent style- and creates the highlight of the album. You should get this one after you get his first three albums, THE ESSENTIAL SANTANA, THE BEST OF SANTANA VOLS. 1 & 2, MOONFLOWER, GREATEST HITS, BORBOLETTA, and AMIGOS.

Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shaman (Audio CD)
I think this album is every bit as good as "Supernatural". My favorite tracks are by Seal and Placido Domingo as the featured singers. I think that any interest in Latin music was started by Mr. Santana and he is still the ruling king!!!!!!!!!!!!!
