5.0 out of 5 stars Sharks 3D Feb. 23 2014

This is the ultimate 3D video. It was impossible to get at one time. Stores used this DVD to demo their 3D TVs.

The 3-D disc played fine but the content is a little disappointing. At approximately 42 minutes in length it is little more than a nature lesson and I would have expected a bit more "awe factor" from an IMAX presentation. The price was right (low) as I don't expect to view it many more times.

Sharks 3D Blu-ray Review:

It's hard to believe anyone could possibly make a program about sharks boring but the lack of any excitement/action, good camera angles or informational content is what you can expect from this presentation.

First off, it seems like it is targeted at probably pre-schoolers (or very young children) and is narrated by a sea turtle. It provides minimal actual information about sharks and bounces around quite a bit. This is a shark, I'm a turtle, this is a ray and that's a sea lion... etc about as educational (and exciting) as an aquarium screen saver. But I guess if parents want a program they don't have to worry about their children seeing things getting shredded by swarms of sharks in a feeding frenzy (there was only one very brief scene), then this is pretty tame on all levels and may help serve that purpose.

With that being said, the picture quality I found to be quite murky and really seemed washed out, lacked definition and none of the images really popped or impressed from a visual perspective, considering the IMAX 3D banner across the cover, I felt it was not up to par with other titles I have seen. I understand that underwater filming has a great many challenges and this presentation seemed to suffer from them all.

3D is not fantastic. Not too much ghosting but was hoping for more popping out of the screen. Documentary aspect is ok.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice. Sept. 20 2011

Good picture. Clear. 3d pops out. Everyone loves sharks don't they? The narrative is voiced by Jacques-Yves Cousteau son. You can't get much more legacy then that in marine documentaries. All around good production. Just a shame that it's a bit short, sitting at only 42 minutes running time.
