After listening to my friends talk about steam mops, I decided to buy a used one since I did not know if I would like it. I loved it! I had it a couple of years and decided to buy new. Someone told me about the all in one--you switch from electric broom to steamer in the same appliance. What a great idea! I bought a Shark and right away did not like it as much as my old Reliable. I was told that it switches from one mode to another by flipping a switch. While that is true, to use the broom feature, you have to undo the floor pad. After 4 or 5 times using it, it just stopped working. Shark would have taken it back for repair (there was a fee involved) but they said I could just return it where I bought it and get my money back, which I did. Was afraid to buy another Shark, so to Amazon I went! I looked at these steamers for days; reading the customers' reviews got me more confused. They would go from 5 stars to 1 star for the same product! Finally, I found The Sharper Image steamer--did not think it worth it to get an all in one again. For $50, reduced from $120, I figured how could you go wrong? Fairly easy to put together. Steam takes a bit longer than my old mop but not too long a wait. I haven't figured out if if stops making steam when you put it upright like my old steamer did. So, I need to plan where I plug it in so I can unplug it as soon as I am done. Some reviews, on other units, complain that the pad was too small. To me, that is a plus. My toilet is in its own little "room"--the Shark pad was too big to fit around the toilet. This one fits there nicely.
Pro: cheap! small pad. fairly easy to put together. Steams fairly quickly.
Con: it only came with one pad and it is blue. Would have liked white so I can throw it in the bleach load. Can't find on Amazon where I can buy more pads in case I have to do my floors in between washer loads.
Will update this if it stops working after 4 or 5 times!
