As she gets to know the mysterious student, he shares with her an ancient secret... one that may yet put both of them in grave danger.

1.0 out of 5 stars How does this book have 3.5 stars?!? Dec 12 2011

I'm not just disappointed with this book, I'm angry. I'm all for self publishing and getting your name out there but this book had so many errors throughout I have to wonder if the author even bothered to read it before charging others to do so. I trusted the amazon ratings and obviously shouldn't have. The characters have no depth and move quickly from one issue to the next without giving the reader any chance to connect to them. The connection between the main characters came out of nowhere - they meet, the next day he reveals all of his deepest darkest secrets to her. I was completely confused with their relationship the whole way through. I also found the language completely unbelievable. Teens don't talk like that, hell my grandma doesn't talk like that. I dont even write reviews but I was so offended on behalf of all of the good struggling authors out there and this book has 3.5 stars?!? I feel duped. I've completely lost faith in the amazon rating system. My advice to the author - find an agent, who will find you an editor. You are in desperate need of one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing and wonderful! July 5 2011

Great new book ... Great new Author!

This book was amazing! I loved it and think I have found a new favorite author! Her writing captivated me from the first page and continued to hold my interest until the very last page. I not only loved the book, but fell in love with the characters. The author's writing abilities take you into a wonderful world that you totally get lost in while taking the journey with Laura and Logan. You see and feel everything they see and experience. This will definitely be a book I will keep and read again and again.

I too looked at the author's page and was surprised to see that she was so young. Her writing held me spellbound like authors more than twice her age. I believe she has found her calling in life and has many wonderful books ahead of her. I know I will be waiting (probably impatiently lol) for the next book of this trilogy along with the other books she will write.

If you are someone who loves to become completely submerged in the books you read, have favorites that you keep and read over and over again, this book will not disappoint and will become a "keeper" for you too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally addictive book Jun 21 2011
By Linda.Karr.2001 - Published on Amazon.com

I loved, loved, loved this book. But, I admit, it didn't start out that way. The first little bit (maybe the first four or five chapters) were a bit slow to me, but when I got by them - everything just picked up like crazy. There was so much of everything in this book, from the start of a forbidden romance, to a thrilling race against the clock, to hints and peeks at the supernatural... everything that you could want and expect and MORE.

So the book is Shattered, and it's the first in a new supernatural/paranormal/teen romance trilogy. We start out by being introduced to Laura Cubus, a girl who's described as pretty but average. She's lived her whole life in one place, in a city by Portland, OR, and if things were a bit boring to her, at least they were stable.

That is, until a new student comes to school... and she's introduced to an entirely new, wonderful and terrifying world. I won't spoil the story for you, but I will say that Laura doesn't stay in one place anymore. In fact, by the time the book is over, she's grown and seen so much more in the course of the events of the book than ever before in her life. How she handles with that, and deals with all the danger and mystery that seems destined for her, is what makes this book so exciting.

Laura is witty and smart, and one of the things I loved about her is that when she's faced with danger, she actually tries to fight back. She's strong, but at the same time, vulnerable and maybe even naive. It makes for a great complexion. The storyline is fantastic, and all the dialogue is great.

The journey she takes is one in which she discovers a world she had been completely oblivious to, one filled with supernatural powers and excitement. And danger. Oh boy, is there a lot of danger.

Like I said, I don't want to spoil the book, so I won't go much deeper in the plot, but I loved how the author dropped hints about the world that Laura is discovering for herself. And we get to go on the ride along with her.

I can't wait to find out what happens to the characters. There is just so much potential for excitement (from the point of view of developing both the plot and the characters) in the upcoming books, I can't wait for them to come out. Shattered has great characters, great story, and great writing. I'm anxiously awaiting more.

If you're a fan of Lauren Kate (fallen), Amanda Hocking, or even Twilight... pick this book up! You'll get addicted.
