Stones still have it, May 8 2008
This review is from: Shine A Light (Audio CD)
Just a short comment: this two-disc package is most enjoyable listening. These live performances and arrangements are top-notch for vitality, sound and musical quality. The sense of the band's personality shines through, and this will have to hold us until the DVD becomes available. My only complaint is the way that the tracks end by simply cutting the applause, rather than fading it out, or blending it into one seamless performance.

Have you seen the movie?, July 18 2009

My boyfriend and I saw this movie (live concert) in Toronto, Ontario. I was surprised the theatre was not full. It was only playing at one theatre in Toronto. Made me a fan. The Stones were always okay to me. To watch them "live" in concert in the theatre was unbelievable!

classic stones, May 25 2008
This review is from: Shine A Light (Audio CD)
Very well produced album. Nice clean sound. Keith and Ron shine on the guitar.Trading off each other in classic Stones style. And lots of short bursts of solo work by both guitarists. Charlie... steady as always.
Mick's voice is strong. Liked all the Some Girls material (4 songs total) including a rare performacne of the title track but with the infamous "black girls" line, cleaned up for live video. The double cd features 3 tracks that are not in the live Imax film, I'm Free, T&A and Paint It Black, plus the full version of the title song, which plays only briefly over the end credits in the movie.
Stones with Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera are a real treat. Champagne and Reefer with Guy is good raunchy blues while Aguilera's voice soars on Live With Me. Jack Black is OK on Loving Cup but doesn't bring as much as the other two guests.
A great thing about the cd, is that we are spared the Bill and Hilary wanking with the Stones pre show bit, from the movie. Who let them in anyway?
Crank it up. This is good rockin Stones!
