I am a big fan of SY, but this I don't like. I have just about every release by sonic youth. LPs, EPs, singles, bootlegs, side projects, you name it. Unfortuneately, I have only been into the band since 1995, and have only very recently acquired the funds with which to purchase their catalogue. When this was re-released, I had to buy it. SY occasionally releases music that is very noisy, and pointless, but this takes the cake. I am one of the few that likes the SYRs, silver session, or Ciccone Youth, but this is too much. It's 9 minutes, (4 tracks, a grand total of 9 minutes and 20 seconds. not very ambitious)and it is comprised of Thurston Moore and the Boredom's Yamatsuka Eye screaming while noisy guitars and drums randomly thrash in the background. It's all right for a listen..., but you won't listen to it more than once. It doesn't bring new enjoyment with each listen like other SY recordings. I do recommend it for hardcore SY fans. The package is wonderful digipack and the art is nice. It was very limited the 1st time around, and considering it's so bad, probably won't be around much longer. if you are new to sonic youth and you were attracted by the interesting title, i might recommend sister, washing machine, or daydream nation first. those are the masterpieces.
