This review is from: Shock to the System: A Donald Strachey Mystery (DVD)
We read the Strachey mysteries when they first came out in print and really enjoyed the characters. Gay stories with depth and without stereotype, I always thought they'd make great movies and I was right. The team making these films manages to capture gay life well. This one builds on the last one and I'm glad I've seen them in sequence. Next one out in a few weeks and I have it pre-ordered. If you like murder mysteries these will do you fine.

I'm loving the Donald Strachey films. Chad Allen is fantastic - the perfect blend of strength, tenacity and vulnerability. Wonderful film noir mystery with a great cast of characters. Love the way the series is slowly fleshing out the back stories and giving us more insights into Donald and Timmy's relationship and home life. Chad Allen and Sebastian Spence have lovely chemistry. Both Spence and Nelson Wong (as Don's new 'office manager', Kenny) give the film - and our hero Don - some much needed lighter moments. Truly excellent work all around, and I'm looking very much forward to when the third film is released on DVD, so I can add that to my collection as well! Great work, Mr. Ron Oliver - please, keep these coming. :)

I saw Third Man Out only a few weeks ago, and just now watched this sequel. This one is 100 times better than the first.....intense scenes, emotions, a great plot, and we also see deeper levels to Donald and also his past in the military. There are some funny moments here and there to break the tension, and that's always a good thing. This is definitely the best Strachey so far, and i'm glad there are more in the works. Trust me, you'll love this one!!!!!!!
