I was lucky enough to get this knife on sale during boxing week, great deal for an amazing knife! I use it for just about everything in the kitchen and I'm definitely going to be buying more Shun products.

What can I say, this knife looks beautiful and cuts great. I'm not a knife expert so I won'T go on about balance, angle of the blade and the other stuff I don't understand well. I will say that I really enjoy using this knife as it really cuts well and it really looks great, I'm repeating myself, amazon and their minimum character count...

I will start by saying that I am not a chef, nor am I a knife expert. I enjoy cooking and bought this knife on a whim. For the last 12/13 years I have happily used a French Sabatier chef's knife (8 inch) and never felt a need for anything better. However, I found this knife on the Amazon site for an amazing price and bought it. I have no regrets!
Firstly, this is an incredibly well made knife. The wood handle (some type of Walnut) is beautiful and functional (it has a shape that is pleasant in the hand)My wife is so-so on the hammered metal look as I am sure many people are. However, I rather like it so it is not an issue for me.
This knife was extremely sharp right out of the box and after a few weeks of use it remains just as sharp. I have not picked up my old Sabatier since this knife arrived. For the price I paid I can't imagine getting something better or more beautiful.
