Book Description

Aug. 9 2011
Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life was immediately hailed as "not your average self-help book" and demanded attention and praise right out of the gate. It is now considered one of the icons of the personal development movement. Now, Larry Winget is back with his signature caustic, no-nonsense, hilarious style, which earned him the titles "Pitbull of Personal Development®" and "World's Only Irritational Speaker®." Winget's "get off your butt and go to work" approach to self-improvement boils success down to a simple formula: Everything in your life gets better when you get better.
  • Get tangible advice from one of the world's most successful speakers and the author of five bestselling books and television personality.
  • Learn the keys to turning your life, money and business around.
  • Stop making excuses, stop blaming others and take responsibility for your life and your results

The brutal advice he offers has changed the lives of millions of people and increased sales for countless businesses. In this Second Edition of Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life, Winget takes the same principles and expands the lessons with brand new examples, stories, and added wisdom. It may sound ruthless, but your life is your own fault and if you shut up, stop whining, and take action you can create a better life.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE EYE OPENER June 29 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought two of this nuts books as a bit of a challenge based on his titles. I have read hundreds of self help books so he wasn't going to be telling me anything new... or at least I thought. His first few jabs did not affect me too much but before I knew it he had beaten some real down to earth common sense into me. What the hell was I thinking all these years. As if one more get rich quick book was going to do anything and yet I kept buying them. Had I read this one first I would have not needed all those others. He snapped me out of my head fog and gave some REAL steps to start getting a REAL life and making REAL change. I thought it would never happen but ole Larry here has a spot right up there with my other number one book.... "Illusions" by Richard Bach.

Seriously if you are a crybaby who likes to sit around and navel gaze then save your money but if you want some REAL change then order them right now. I know it was the best thing I ever did.

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Favorite Book July 9 2012
By Joed - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is my new favorite book. Larry tells it like it is and pulls no punches. It's about taking personal responsibility for you life. I purchased one for a friend's son who just graduated High School and one for my 40 year old daughter. I wish I had read it when I had graduated from High School. It would have saved me years of hard life lessons. After 65 years I have come to the same conclusions as Winget talks about in this book. Many young people today expect that they are going to be taken care of forever, either by parents or by the government. When they finally have to confront the hard facts of life they are in for a shock. Read about it in Shut Up and take control of your life and be prepared before the shock of reality kicks you in the butt. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars the truth of things Feb. 6 2012
By Robert Kitt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book reminds me of the many ways we lose sight of what is important in life. It is a pep talk and a stern talking to at the same time. It helped me remember those lessons of life that I had forgotten. No one but yourself can make you happy. Don't wait for someone else to get started, get going and make money (life) happen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh, contrarian, invigorating Aug. 3 2013

Not your usual self-help advice. Freshing, contrarian, invigorating. I don't agree with everything said - but for the most part I believe the truth is stated in no uncertain terms: we are not victims in life, but for the most part personally responsible for our own success.
Excellent read and worth the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kick Start Your Stalled Life Jan. 12 2014
By Donna - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As a 56-year-0ld woman with two girls in college, I felt like my life needed to switch gears. I wasn't getting too far except thinking it over until I read this great book. Larry Winget is a no excuses type of person who urges you to stop making excuses and to start following a game plan. I really needed a kick in the butt by this no-nonsense writer. He really knows what he is talking about. By reading this book I took some definite action to start changing my life. I felt like months would just drift by before and now I have control again. Just remember, feeling uncomfortable is good and will lead you to change. I had been feeling uncomfortable for awhile. Realizing this was okay helped me move forward. Don't take the easy way out or expect magic pills to cure your ills, read this book and transform yourself! I plan to! I have read all of Larry's books and have
taken away good advice from each of them. Quit dreaming and get going!

5.0 out of 5 stars Telling It Like it Is Jan. 12 2014
By Deborah J. Munoz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
If you want to cut through the junk and learn some real life helpful information about improving your life and your relationships, this is the book for you. The section on "Getting Smarter" was especially good. This book discusses what most of us don't want to hear but need to know and what others want to say but won't. At least one section will hit home and probably more than one. Worth reading and even more worthwhile to actually do something with the information.
