From the Back Cover

This book won't make you feel better about yourself. And that's a good thing.

If you're hoping to change your life with a bunch of feel-good mantras, then this book isn't for you. But if you're ready to get off your butt and really change your life, then Larry Winget is your man. Winget's tough-love approach boils success down to a simple formula: your life is your own damn fault, and if you shut up, stop whining, and take action, your life will get better.

Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life gives you the keys to turning your life, money, and business around. Larry's brutal advice has changed the lives of millions of people around the world. This Second Edition expands the previous lessons with brand-new examples, stories, and added wisdom, and his humorous approach is funnier than ever!

"If you're ready to stop your whining, strap on your belt, and get to work, then this is the book for you. Larry wants to see you succeed, and he's not afraid to rub some reality in your face to help you do it!"—Jim Bouchard, author ofThink Like a Black Belt

"I love Larry's dish on life: a healthy approach to setting you straight!"—Marzia Prince, professional fitness model

"Filled with straight talk and straight answers, Larry's honest approach is a brutally refreshing retreat from all of the esoteric blather that the so-called gurus preach." —Tommy Zarzecki, Publisher,

I bought two of this nuts books as a bit of a challenge based on his titles. I have read hundreds of self help books so he wasn't going to be telling me anything new... or at least I thought. His first few jabs did not affect me too much but before I knew it he had beaten some real down to earth common sense into me. What the hell was I thinking all these years. As if one more get rich quick book was going to do anything and yet I kept buying them. Had I read this one first I would have not needed all those others. He snapped me out of my head fog and gave some REAL steps to start getting a REAL life and making REAL change. I thought it would never happen but ole Larry here has a spot right up there with my other number one book.... "Illusions" by Richard Bach.

Seriously if you are a crybaby who likes to sit around and navel gaze then save your money but if you want some REAL change then order them right now. I know it was the best thing I ever did.

My New Favorite Book July 9 2012

This is my new favorite book. Larry tells it like it is and pulls no punches. It's about taking personal responsibility for you life. I purchased one for a friend's son who just graduated High School and one for my 40 year old daughter. I wish I had read it when I had graduated from High School. It would have saved me years of hard life lessons. After 65 years I have come to the same conclusions as Winget talks about in this book. Many young people today expect that they are going to be taken care of forever, either by parents or by the government. When they finally have to confront the hard facts of life they are in for a shock. Read about it in Shut Up and take control of your life and be prepared before the shock of reality kicks you in the butt. Highly recommended.

the truth of things Feb. 6 2012

This book reminds me of the many ways we lose sight of what is important in life. It is a pep talk and a stern talking to at the same time. It helped me remember those lessons of life that I had forgotten. No one but yourself can make you happy. Don't wait for someone else to get started, get going and make money (life) happen.

No excuses...for being this myopic March 10 2015

Because evidently "just do it" will never die in the motivational-verse, Mr. Winget's theoretical recipe for success is to get off your ass and work it off until you have enough cash to feel good about it—while being an emotionally and physically available husband and father with godlike ethical standards we can only read about in fiction.
It's a book that in theory is supposed to get readers to quit bitching and take action, but contains a great deal of its own complaining—like an old man shaking his fist at young people for laughing too loudly.

None of these thoughts are new, and the book doesn't really contain any useable strategies other than to contemplate why we're doing something and adjust it to achieve a more satisfactory outcome based on current goals. That being said, use that last sentence to design your life. Now go, my sons. Live your dreams. But practically. Just make sure you're financially secure. But don't get too tied down. Oh any be there for your wife and kids. But not too much. Tough love and all that. Invest your money wisely and remember to keep some feel-good cash in your left pocket. Integrety!!! Now make that money.

This is the second Larry Winget that I have finished and I greatly enjoyed both. Looking forward to the other two books of his I purchased. Keep telling it like it is, Larry.

Excellent kick in the pants accountability Nov. 5 2012

This book is excellent. I am a middle-aged, hard working blue collar stiff. Winget's words have re-affirmed for me that I have done ok because I have for the most part taken a similar philosophy and approach in how I have lived my life.

I bought the book for my adult kids who have not taken responsibility and accountability for how they choose to live their lives. I am tired of the entitlement attitude, and tired of being used personally and financially because I am "rich" and they are so hard done by.

So I bought the book, read it, and passed it on to the kids. My response to the freeloading hand coming out now is "Read Winget's book and do what he says". Winget has given me the freedom to say "no" without guilt to my kids (and the guilt card has been played heavily on me over the years), while allowing me to give them the tool they need to get on with becoming responsible adults.
