I got this tent for my birthday back in May and ended up using it for a camping trip shortly thereafter. I didn't have time to practice setting up this tent, but it wasn't too hard once we got to the camp site. It's a lovely looking tent and once we had it set up, it seemed to be the most sturdy tent at the campsite! It comes with a footprint (which I didn't use, so I can't comment on), a fly and some metal pegs in a very well designed carrying bag reminiscent of a paintbrush roll. The two doors are very useful and the interior was cozy. There's a little mesh gear loft which is machine washable, and there are two side pockets on opposite ends of the tent. It kept out the wind really well, even with half the tent being mesh. The way the fly goes on, you have two little spaces to put out your shoes and gear on either side of tent so you have more space inside. The only thing that wasn't that great about this tent is the fact that it's low to the ground (which makes it very sturdy) so you end up having to crawl out (okay if you camp in a grassy area-we were on hard ground). If you decide to leave the fly off to watch the stars, you might have a hard time putting it back on in the dark haha.

After numerous days of research, my husband bought this tent for me for my birthday, 10/10/11 along with other awesome camping gear (Thermarest Neoair Trekker sleeping pads). So we tried it out as soon as he gave it to me a few days earlier. We live in Austin, TX and all of Texas has been in a drought for months and there have also been an abundance of wildfires throughout the state. So of course when we decide to go camping for my birthday the weather decides to get out of control. There was lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and heavy rainfall all throughout the night. I kept hearing the Wizard of Oz tornado scene music in my head. I thought that surely we would have been blown away but we stayed intact and in the morning there was not a drop of rain or condensation inside of the tent. I was amazed. This was a big upgrade for us, switching from a no-air-flow condensation filled Timber Creek Academy tent. If you own a low end tent and have never been quite comfortable camping, then it's time for the upgrade my friend! This tent was put to the test and came out a winner. And it weighs less than my Chihuahua who happens to be the best camping buddy a girl could ever have!

After extensive research, I finally decided on the Sierra Designs Zia 3 Tent. Hands down the most bang for the buck in 3-season, 3-person tents. Set-up was a snap, only about 5 minutes after a much timelier test run in my back yard. But once you've done it, it's a piece of cake. The tent was perfect for 2 people + gear and a dog. I love that the footprint was included. The first night we camped in the Zia, the temps dropped down to 35 degrees. It is the first tent I have ever woken up in, where there was no trace of morning dew, which also helped it seem fairly toasty. Hopefully it will perform as well when it drops below freezing.

I bought this tent for a supported bike tour (our gear was trucked between camping sites). It is well ventilated, easy to set up and take down. We had thunderstorms one evening with 40mph gusts and it stood up well and kept me and everything inside absolutely dry. We had straight line wind gusts another day of camping and it barely moved (with the full rain fly on) while other tents around were completely buckling over. I would definitely recommend this tent for one to two people. As usual, this three person tent would be cramped with three people inside.
