The book in the set says "yes" (a nice book at that, as is the box). I have to say the opposite. The cds are nicely packaged but do not contain any of the bonus tracks on the previous issues. The version of "Double Fantasy" is only the single disc. Essentially, you are paying $150+ for 13 bonus tracks and a nice box.These bonus ("unreleased" material) tracks are very similar to those previously available on other packages (such as "Anthology"). The content of the disc "singles" is available in all the new compilation packages, with the exception of "Move over Ms. L" (available on the old "Collection" cd). Strangely enough, "Do the Oz" (previously a bonus track) is now missing from all the packages. If you already have a copy of the 1991 LENNON box set, it contains all the original (non remastered) mixes. It also has John Lennon's final performances with Elton John and all of his "Double Fantasy"/"Milk and Honey" songs collected on one disc. More information: I have had time now to listen to three versions of the "Plastic Ono Band" album. The original British cd (1990), the remastered cd with bonus tracks (2000) and the 2010 remaster. On the original cd and and the new cd, John's voice is further in the background with the new cds being louder and "brighter" (more high end) than the 1990 issue. The remaster from 2000 has a much more even balance of music and vocals with his voice slightly more forward in the mix. In both the 1990 and 2010 versions, the vocals almost seem to take second place to the music. This is not the case with the 2000 issue. As to the bonus tracks intruding on the 2000 version, there is a fairly large gap between the end of the album and the extra songs. This easily allows you listen to them or to turn off the cd, as you wish.

Run out and get the previous remasters...,

This review is meant for those who are completists and/or looking for an upgrade from the previously issued Lennon remasters from the early 2000's.The new sound simply is not close to the quality of the previous remasters... be they the original Lennon mixes or not. I've got the previous remasters of Plastic Ono Band, Imagine and Mind Games and a quick comparison shows a clear difference. For example, listen to Imagine (the song) on the new remaster and you can hear audible white noise playing alongside the piano intro whereas on the previous remaster you get just a clear and crisp sounding piano intro. This is just a single example but in general the sound of the new remasters is blunt and therefore otherwise great sounding instruments/vocals are blurred into the background in many cases where they stand out in the previous remasters. Regarding the package its nice enough but excessively large for what is contained inside. Yoko Ono should have considered the new shelfspace conscious fans that are trying to squeeze this in next to the Beatles box sets (where it looks gluttonous by comparison). The digi pack booklets are cool and the "yes" book is as well but the whole thing could have been in a box the size of the Beatles Mono remasters. It has been said by many others that this should have been a more complete collection of Lennon's solo work and I couldn't agree more. For the price tag, there should be more bonus tracks/albums that we all know exist. In a nutshell, my biggest gripe is the sound but the packaging and comprehensiveness of the set aren't up to par either. I've spent $150 and the end result is that I've realized will now have to run out and spend more on the remaining previous remasters of the albums that I don't have because I now see how great they sound by comparison. I suggest you save your $150 and do the same as these superior editions will likely be disappearing from shelves soon enough... Now of course if you are a Lennon/Beatles completist and must have this set anyway, don't say you weren't forewarned....

These discs are remastered from the original analogue tapes and sound much more like the originals than the super souped up ones with the bonus tracks. Also remember; albums back in the day where recorded with the tracks carefully placed in order to create a total sound package. Bonus tracks can detract from that experience. Here, the new bonus tracks are all on one cd, along with an additional disc of non-album and single mixes. Works great for me!I take off one star because it would've been nice if the box also included the new stripped version of Double Fantasy, the Hits DVD, and the additional live tacks on Gimme Some Truth, for some one stop shopping. That's my only complaint. Nice packaging/ box, the discs won't lay about or have to be shelved loose. Previous Lennon Antholgy had a whole box set of unreleased tracks, and then there is the Acoustic album, and if you look around you can still track down Menlove Avenue on CD. New releases should mean a fair bit of new and used copies of the souped up discs with the bonus tracks kicking around, if you use this Amazon feature, and there's usually some pretty great bargoons there, if you need those bonus tracks, but I think there is a lot of repitition there anyways, with the forementioned discs. I'd say buy this box!!!
