Product Description

About the Artist

Composer/keyboardist Jeff Johnson has self produced and engineered numerous releases on his own Ark Records label as well as Hearts of Space (Prayers of St. Brendan - The Journey Home). Flutist, Brian Dunning, from Dublin, Ireland, is best known for his contributions to the Windham Hill band, Nightnoise. Jeff and Brian began their collaboration in 1992 when they joined creative forces in producing the first in a series of three Contemporary Celtic albums inspired by a trilogy of best selling author, Stephen Lawhead, entitled, THE SONG OF ALBION. Songs From Albion 2 is the second and most popular release in the series.

In addition to the three SONGS FROM ALBION recordings, they have released Music of Celtic Legends - The Bard & The Warrior on Windham Hill. They have also had songs featured on such successful Celtic music sampler series as CELTIC TWILIGHT (Hearts of Space) and CELTIC CHRISTMAS (Windham Hill).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the trilogy, Nov 20 2002

This review is from: Silver Hand: Songs from Albion 2 (Audio CD)
I thought "Songs from Albion" really enhanced my reading experience... In fact, I performed a reading for some of my friends and played the CD's during the reading. They loved it so much they bought the CD's and the books! Vol 2 is my favorite, but all three are great! If you like good Keltic music these are for you; whether or not you read Stephen Lawhead's books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Johnson at his BEST., Nov 14 2000
By John J. Hadam - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Silver Hand: Songs from Albion 2 (Audio CD)
I had heard some wonderful cuts by Jeff Johnson on "Echoes" & "Thistle and Shamrock", but was disappointed by his "St. Brendan" production. Then I heard this CD. These ARE the rich textural keyboards that produce the "haunting" effect mentioned in published reviews. Put this wonderful effort together with Brian Dunning's ethereal flute plus the occasional pipes and this is Celtic/New Age-ish music that floats gently in the clouds. Johnson and Dunning seem to know exactly "how much is enough", especially on the first three cuts of the album, which are wonderful to listen to on a long drive. Two thumbs up!!

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT RECOMMEND, Oct 10 2001
By Abigail - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Silver Hand: Songs from Albion 2 (Audio CD)
I do not recommend these CD's at all, at all! They are all well good for those of you out there who like the sappy Celtic modern music, but for you who like the traditional Celtic, this CD is NOT for you. I have read the books by Steven Lawhead (that these CD's are supposed to be based on) The Song Of Albion, three times though and I did not get the idea of music like this. The Song Of Albion invokes in the reader a feel for true Celticness and mysticism and with these Cd's you find yourself flung not into the Steven Lawhead Otherworld, but more into that of Xena, Warrior Princess. Not good. If you love Llew and Teged and Cynan and Bran and all of them, and love the world they are in, it will not help you to see the vision more clearly by setting it to music of our own age.
