From Booklist
Ortman supplies a good overview of the stages involved in publishing one's own nonfiction (and "to a slightly lesser degree, poetry and fiction"). Nor is he shy about citing other books that cover his topics in greater detail. Assuming you know little about the process, he discusses getting started, developing promotional materials and securing reviews, distribution, and continued marketing. Far from the whole story, but a good start, particularly for someone whose interests are just beginning to quicken.
