5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Resource for Details About Aphrodisiacs May 19 2013
By Nikki Leigh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The topic of aphrodisiacs has always been interesting to me. The idea that feeding certain foods could make a person more amorous is a fascinating thought. Some common foods come to mind like chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, most any alcohol, pumpkin, and on and on. But when I starting reading Simple Sexy Food by Linda De Villers, I realized that was barely the tip of the aphrodisiac iceberg.

In her book, De Villers, delves into an unbelievable list of foods that can have aphrodisiac effects on people. There are fruits, vegetables, spices, and much more. The book is broken up into several sections, they include:

Introduction
* Simple Sexy Background
* Health, Simple and Sexy
* Making Time for Simple and Sexy
* How to Use Simple Sexy Food

Aphrodisiac Food History Lore and Facts
* What does the term aphrodisiac mean
* Why the interest in aphrodisiacs
* Aphrodisiac Lore and History
* Mythical vs "Proven" Powers

Part I--Tease Me Anytime (appetizers, soups, salads, quickies)
Part II--Daytime is the Right Time (breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon delight)
Part III--Love-Feasts (sit-down dinners, complete meals)
Part IV--Late Night Rendezvous (desserts, drinks, and more)

Simple Sexy Food definitely covers a wealth of information. Whether you want to become an aphrodisiac expert or just want to cook up more romance in your love life - this book is for you. There is interesting lore and history in the beginning. Find out unusual ways foods were used through history and you may be surprised to find who used them. She even included some details about Casanova's favorite aphrodisiacs --- and he would know what works...

The second half of the book is packed with recipes and I don't mean just a few. There are 101 recipes for all kinds of foods - appetizers, soups, salads, quickies, breakfast, lunch, dinners, desserts, drinks etc. Each person I've shared this book with have gotten in touch with me to let me know which recipes they tried or plan to try.

We've all heard the adage that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. That just gives us one more reason to check out this book. It contains a wealth of information, has over 100 recipes, gives you suggestions on all types of foods to use in your cooking and you can share some juicy food history, lore and quaint trivia with friends, family and your partner. It could also give you plenty of ideas on food to order when you're on a date. For people who want to get creative in their love life - you will love this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this unique book!! March 13 2013
By Zazen Woman - Published on Amazon.com

I'm really not much of a cook, but I bought this book on a lark, because the title appealed to me. Wow! What a happy surprise! My boyfriend has loved everything I've made so far, and my efforts certainly have been rewarded! It's even inspired him to help me out in the kitchen. The two of us have had a great time laughing over the hysterical tales surrounding aphrodisiac foods. I'd heard about a few, but this book goes way beyond the usual suspects.

Since I am a bit of a health nut, something unexpected. I really loved that the "sexy nutrients" of each aphrodisiac food are included.
I cook whole-grain pasta all the time, and in the past have felt a bit guilty about that, just because of the calories. I never knew before, though, that it releases serotonin and creates a contented mood and even reduces over-eating! I've always believed that healthy eating makes us feel better about ourselves and our bodies, and this book really supports that view. All in all, this book definitely exceeded my expectations!
5.0 out of 5 stars Super Sexy! Feb. 13 2013

I received this book as a wedding present and I absolutely love it! The pictures are gorgeous and side bar drawings are so creative. It made me want to make so many things, from chocolate fondue sauce to lobster guacamole. There's a big section at the front that has all the aphrodisiacs... I had no idea there were so many, and the fun facts are hilarious! The sexy tips are really cool... they've inspired me to try new things with my husband. Can't wait to make these recipes and enjoy the results!

3.0 out of 5 stars will give you ideas on how to have fun playing with your food. Jan. 24 2013
By Cheryl Koch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand I enjoyed all of the recipes that were featured in this book. I wanted to point this out because there are many books where the book is presented as a recipe book and there are only about a dozen recipes and some you could find from just searching on the internet. There are so many recipes from appetizers to desserts to alcoholic drinks. I will be busy choosing which ones I want to try out first. For example: Bagna Cauda (Hot Bath) which is really a recipe for fondue. French Toast with Grand Marnier, Spicy Shrimp and Rice, Picnic Bean and Artichoke Heart Salad, Pumpkin Chiffon Pie with Gingersnap Pecan Crust, Blueberry Mojito, Screaming Orgasm, and Sexy Chai to name a few.

The first about hundred pages of this book is focused on all of the different foods from vegetables, fruits, sweets, and nuts. Linda goes into detail about each food item and all of the sexy benefits and nutrients that each food item brings to the table. Some of the items listed in this book I am familiar with as being aphrodisiacs but others I was not familiar with. The aphrodisiac feature of the food item can vary from the food item to a texture, taste, smell, or healthy beneficial nutrient.

As much as I did enjoy learning about all of the different foods, I did skip ahead to the recipes. The food section again although nice food lessons, I did feel that I could learn the same thing about these foods from the internet. Overall, though this book does make for a interesting read and will give you ideas on how to have fun playing with your food.
