4.0 out of 5 stars Simply in Season, Feb 26 2012

So far so good! Recipes are easy, food items I can find here in Manitoba Canada. I also appreciate the extra write-ups, helpful hints, recipe options, poems & prayers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Wonderful, Aug 26 2010
This review is from: Simply in Season (Spiral-bound)
This is an excellent cookbook. I have enjoyed each recipe I have tried.
The cookbook is divided into Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and All-Season sections, based on ingredients that are commonly available in those seasons in North America. It is a great motivation and inspiration to cook with what's in season, and to enjoy what is locally available when its available. Everything in its season.

The recipes are easy to follow with clear directions, and so far I have not run into any strange ingredients. Everything seems pretty straight forward and the results are delicious.

I also enjoy and appreciate the stories, poetry, and anecdotes that are included along with the recipes. I love simply reading this recipe book.

I no longer live in North America, but find many of the recipes easily adaptable to fruit that are available in the local markets. And they still turn out delicious.

This is becoming on of my favourite cookbooks! I love the whole philosophy of eating seasonally and found it very helpful in the summer and harvest time when I had a surplus of a particular vegetable. I would simply go to the back and look up the vegetable in order to find all the recipes that contain it. I have not tried a recipe in here yet that wasn't great! You should buy this book!
