4.0 out of 5 stars Another great cookbook from Wei-chuan, Nov 10 2010

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Simply Vegetarian (Paperback)
I am not a vegetarian and don't have a great interest in vegetarian cuisine but I bought this book because I very much enjoy the other Wei-chuan culinary publications I have purchased. I am glad to say that I was not disappointed. This book, as do all the others, presents at least one photograph for each dish and I have to say that many of the recipes were fascinating. I was struck by the fact that many dishes employ ingredients that are much more commonly found in Japanese cookery (dried gourd, burdock root, perilla leaves and shirataki, to name a few) and two dishes are entirely Japanese; Norimaki Sushi and Chawan Mushi). However, it struck me later that while I had assumed this was to be a book about Chinese vegetarian dishes, this is nowhere stated in the book.

I should also note that this book is not entirely vegetarian in the full vegan sense. A number of dishes use eggs and one uses cheese. This was in no way objectionable to me, by any means, but some vegans might want to take note.
