Sin (long): I hate saying this, but, one word... weak. This track almost ruined the song for me. It's almost ridiculous. I skip it everytime this cd enters my stereo.
Sin (dub): As others have commented, this is the only track that feels like a remix. But, I still really don't like it. It would have been better an instrumental. This track has what ruined Long as it's only lyrics, the repetition of the words 'sin' and 'control'. Really terrible, is skipped like the song before it.
Get Down, Make Love: This is truely the best song on this. Before I was a NIN fan, I was a Queen fan (if you like this song, it's on News of the World) and I was not disappointed with the rendition that is portrayed onthis cd. No one can match Freddie Mercury at singing, however, Trent doesn't sing. He takes a different approuch and screams it. Bravo. (note, the sound clips are from the Original version)
Sin (short): Not as good as the original, however, it's listenable. The three remixes of Sin found on this cd all have one thing in common... a dance style drum part. I personally think that draws from the angst in the lyrics, but, some people like it. The only good thing about this track is that is doesn't go into a long annoying piece with the repitition of words that make the song lose meaning.
As a whole, I think the majority of this cd butchered one of the best NIN songs, but for the Queen cover, it's worth checking out.
1.Sin(long): this song is the as the title suggests, the longest mix on the cd. its 5minutes or so long, but its great. Trents vocals sound like they were being spoken though a bullhorn. about 3 minutes into it, it gives you a taste of what the Dub version is like. its general mood would be angry, but retains a similarity to both the original version and short version.
2.Sin(dub): this song is about 5minutes as well. this song is mostly instrumental with the exception of the words 'lies' 'sin' and 'control'. its sorta like this song were a repeating mental break, focusing on what went wrong. this song is so unlike the other versions of this song. but it is fantastic.
3.Get Down Make Love: this song is a queen cover. its 4minutes and 19seconds long. this is something you have to hear for yourself. it is one of the most amazing covers i've ever heard. you should hear this song live...fantastic.
4.Sin(short): just like the title says...the short version. its about 4minutes and 16seconds long. this one is most like the original version of Sin found on Halo2. this version has a more sad vibe than the angry/agressive nature of the Long version. both the Short and Dub versions are perSiNal favorites of mine.
this is something you should definitely buy. at under 20minutes this cd doesnt get tiring. and the brilliant remixing of LeBlanc/Sherwood is amazing for these songs. they retain the original meaning of the song. as for the cases...the domestic cover is red and gold, and on the back purple and gold.Read more ›
Hint: If you can tape or burn DJ-style compilations with high cueing precision, try to follow GDML with "Closer." If the first beat of "Closer" follows the rhythm of GDML's end sample from "We Will Rock You," it's an eye-popping segue. I did this on a mix disc for myself, and it does not fail to knock listeners over.
Long and Short are similar, yet both great. This whole single will get your blood pumping, weather it be the harsh lyrics, good guitar riffs, or ripping synth-lines, this single's got it all for any industrial fan.
Throw in a aggresive cover of Get Down Make Love, producded by nonother than Mr. Ministry, Al Jourgenson, and you have a excellent single.
If you're a fan of industrial, NIN, Pretty Hate Machine, or anything along those lines, certainly check this out. You will not be a disapponted. This is the last thing to come out of the PHM "era", and what a way to end it!
