"For simpsons fans" Aug 8 2007
By Tommy Morais TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
The Simpsons is one of the most famous t.v shows ever they released tons of stuff, dvds and more but they also made music albums and this was their first one they did.`the simpsons sing the blues`was released in 1990 at the time of the first season, before they became famous on television.

The simpsons arent really talented singers but they did put on a nice effort with this c.d it would be a comedy -funny music style this isnt music that are hits but i think some songs should be heared like m.r burns`s `look at all those idiots`some funny quotes are there for all lenght of the c.d.

Simpsons fans would love to hear bart`s song like`do the bartman`and some other songs. If you are a simpson fan you would might like their music or at least find it funny. The c.d is actually cheap i bought it for 10 bucks like 6 years ago.The Simpsons go all bluesy on this one for a quite interresting mix actually.Michael Jackson even co-wrote "Do The Bartman" that became a music video and reached little succes.

Fans of the simpsons might want to check it out ,a pretty old release but still good. While i am not a fan of this kind of music i think its a nice effort with some things to check out i recomend it to simpson fans and i also recomend `songs in the key of springfield`to the fans.

i am not really a fan of this kind of music but as a simpson fan i had to like it!

Debut Simpsons album July 1 2004
Format:Audio CD
Concidering this album was realesed nearly 15 years ago, the first song is pretty dated. However, other songs are overlooked gems in Simpsons history:

After the first series ended, Bart Simpson mania hit America. This of course, i9ncluded the t-shirt controversy (see hidden film on Simpsons sea. 1 dvd). DO the Bartman was actually realesed as a single. Not far after this album was realesed.

This and the slightly weaker "Yellow Album" (with the Beatles Sgt. Pepper cover), were the studio albums, and non-soundtracks of songs from the series. This of course gives a chance, for the Simpsons creators, to display individual efforts, to put forth onto this album. There are actually only about 4 or 5 blues songs on this album, making it uneven.

Plenty of "people" have trashed this album, without giving it a fair third or fourth listen. Well here's a song by song guide to my personal opinoins:

1- Do the Bartman: Overrated M.J. like song. Some people like it.
2- School Day: I never really liked this song.
3- Born under a Bad Sign: A Homer cover of classic blues. Pretty decent song. I listen to it simaltaniously?(now you can see i'm only 14), with the Cream version.
4- Moanin'Lisa Blues: A much longer version than of ep 1.6. My favourite from this album.
5- Deep,Deep Trouble: A cute Bart song. Once an unsucessful single.
6- God Bless the Child: Pretty good cover. Another Lisa effort.
7- I Love to see you smile: Not bad duet with Marge and Homer (the Honeymooners)((well, not really)). Not bad.
8- Springfeild Soul Stew: In the Immortal Words of Lisa Simpson, Meh.
9- Look at all Those Idiots: The only non-Simpson song, this one from MR. Burns. Pretty funny.
10- Sibling Rivalry: Might as well be penned another Pete Townshend opera. I never really liked this one, too much.

Well, in conclusion, this is mainly for Simpson die-hards, or someone looking for some good blues covers and originality. Get this one used, at least this week.

In case it was inadable to youre ears, the last thing spoken on the album, if I can remmember right, is: "Stop holding my hand Lisa".

THat's all folks. P.S. I don't have money to pay royalties for that last line.

Bart, go to your room! Oct 26 2003
Format:Audio CD
This was the first album released by the Simpsons. It wasn't songs from their show, but rather songs recorded especially for this album. Some of the songs are good, some are not. Here are my thoughts:

1. "Do the Bartman" is a fun rap song by Bart. They actually made a video of this song.

2. "School Day" is a lousy cover version of a Chuck Berry song, by Bart and Buster Poindexter. Joe Walsh provides lead guitar.

3. "Born Under a Bad Sign" is a cover version of an Albert King blues song by Homer. It is pretty decent. Guitar playing by B.B. King gives it some authenticity.

4. "Moanin' Lisa Blues" was a song that was actually featured on show, although this version is much longer. It is one of the better songs here.

5. "Deep, Deep Trouble" is another fun rap song by Bart. This one was produced by D.J. Jazzy Jeff.

6. "God Bless the Child" is a terrible cover version of a classic Billie Holiday song by Lisa. Lisa, you are no Billie Holiday!

7. "I Love to See You Smile" is pretty dull cover version of a Randy Newman song by Homer and Marge. Dr. John plays the piano solo.

8. "Springfield Soul Stew" is a pointless cover version of a King Curtis song, with narration by Marge. The original version was titled "Memphis Soul Stew".

9. "Look at All These Idiots" is an okay song by Mr. Burns, where he criticizes the workers in his plant.

10. "Sibling Rivalry" is a cloying duet by Lisa and Bart. Talk about ending the album on a bad note!

In conclusion, this album is really for hardcore Simpsons fans only. But if you like the Simpsons that much, you probably bought this album a long time ago.

weak
This is a poor excuse for an album. The production values are cheap, the melodies awful, and the lyrics are not up to the normal Simpons standards. Read more
