Product Details

Product Description

The Plant Pal Blue Jay sings when your plant needs watering! A plant moisture alarm is a sophisticated electronic tool, housed inside the body of our "Plant Pal", to help you prevent over and under watering of your house plants. Just position the moisture-sensing probes into the soil. A light sensor prevents the Plant Pal from singing and waking you at night. Best of all, it is an attractive conversation piece that will enhance the beauty of your plant. Replaceable button cell battery included. Lasts for up to 1 year of monitoring.

I love the singing birds as I have had them before. The Robin is fine and I gave the blue bird as a gift and found out that it will not sing. I took it to my house and my friend is right. The reason I ordered these on line is because I couldn't find them in any store. I purchased the first two at a Walgreen's a couple years ago. The repacement batteries are out of sight and when I tried to take apart them, the plastic bird broke. I love them but am sad the blue bird didn't work.

This is the first time I ordered from Amazon.
Thank you for asking!!

Don't Bother With Jan. 25 2013

This product doesn't even deserve one star. Arrived not working and so decided to replace battery. Had a very difficult time opening up the compartment as the screw was glued in. Battery does not just slide out as instructions indicate - held in by clips you have to bend up. Wasn't worth the money to invest in a battery and so I am returning it. Made in China and all of their screws seem to be defective in whatever product that includes them.

Plant Waterer Birds Aug. 25 2012

I received the two birds. I have had them in the past but gave one to each of my daughters. I've been watering my plants by hand and missed my birds. I put one in each of my plant pots and trusted them to let me know when I need to water. I thought it was taking a long time to remind me, but I had watered them good before I put the birds in. I finally checked them two days ago. Neither bird sang and I lost some of my plants that I have had for over a year. I could take the batteries out and get new ones, but I'm not sure that is the problem.

Works, just not as loud Feb. 27 2015

My mother bought one of these blue jay Plant Pals a few years ago before they were discontinued. The one she bought was LOUD. I dropped it and while it still worked, it had some bad chips and damage. So, I had to replace it. The new bird works but doesn't chirp nearly as loud as the old bird. It may be a battery issue. It depends on your may prefer a quieter Plant Pal that doesn't wake you up with the sunrise. But it does the job and looks pretty, so I'm happy. I'm rating it 4 stars just because it's significantly quieter than the original Plant Pal and if you already have one or more, you may be disappointed.
Works well if the batteries are good. June 26 2013

We had this for about 6 weeks and it died.
I pulled it apart to look at it and the batteries we junk.
It cost me $4.50 for a new set of batteries which was half the cost to start with.
