4.0 out of 5 stars Skeletons, NOT Ghosts or Demons! Mar 3 2011
By D. Hupp - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Beware! This movie is OFFBEAT. It's NOT a horror film. That's the good & "bad" news -- good for those who enjoy independent film productions & bad news for those who do not like them. It took me about 30 minutes to grasp the gist of the plot. Although I felt somewhat confused, I considered that time to be akin to watching a mosaic unfold gradually. If you are even somewhat familiar with parapsychology, you might find yourself smiling or laughing, as I did, when the 2 male lead characters talk about their procedures or use "professional jargon" when talking with each other about their work. Without spoiling the plot development, I'll only state that about half way through the film, the tone of the film changes from mostly dark comedy to mostly drama, and I found that change to be smooth. All in all, I give all 5 main characters "good scores" for their performances. I especially enjoyed the performances of Ed Gaughan, Andy Buckley, Tuppence Middleton & Paprika Steen. I had not seen any of them in other films I've watched (and I've seen thousands -- LITERALLY), but I think all 4 of them have the potential to be solid character actors/actresses, if they're not already. If you're an indie fan, I think you'll enjoy this quirky, almost obscure UK release.

5.0 out of 5 stars An under publicized gem Dec 1 2010

Skeletons is a real gem. A fascinating story played out with excellent character actors that gets you laughing at first and then sucks you into a beautiful human drama. I can't understand why this has gotten so little press in the US as ir won a big award in Europe and is really one of the best films (if not the best) that I have seen this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skeletons Jan 21 2012

Quirky, warm, funny and very English. This film is a delight. I first saw it at the wonderful Adelaide Film Festival in 2011 and went without any expectations - this is by far the best way to approach this film. Ed Gaughan and Andrew Buckley are wonderful in the lead roles, and the wonderfully named Paprika Steen is also superb.Skeletons
