This book is so fun we have tonnes of books but this book has stayed in the favorites pile for almost 2 years. My son loves it I have fun reading it, it is a fun and wonderful book that I highly reccomend. A note of caution on other Skippyjon books. I think this book was so popular that they started cranking out the skippyjon series and each one is worse quality than the one before.

A character for yourself - oh, and the small people in your life,

This review is from: Skippyjon Jones (Paperback)
This is the first title in the Skippyjon Jones series, and it is brilliant. (This title, and the series)Mr Fuzzypants El Skippito Friskito is muy muy much loved in this household of two grown-ups and five cats. We have laughed so much reading these stories aloud, I think they should be in the "Get-in-touch-with-your-inner-kid" genre. They'll be an enduring favourite. The Skippyjon story books are great in all respects. The title character is an energetic, inventive kid with a vivid imagination, and he has reclassified his difference with his family-of-origin as a desirable trait. Which is not to say that he doesn't have a regular, loving homelife with his mother and sisters - his mother is affectionate and patient as she provides her exploring young family with direction and safety. But Skippyjon sees himself transformed, finds companions, and creates adventures in an out-of-cat-character way. The art is colourful and engaging, and it conveys the character's slightly chaotic reality perfectly. The narrative is witty with touches of silly and encourages audience participation. The text is in English scattered with Spanish, so it begins to encourage learning another language for young native-English speakers. Really I bought it (and another three Skippyjon adventures so far) for my three year-old neice in New Zealand - really, I did! (Well, ok, and for her mama, who loves to laugh with her daughter)
