Review

Praise for The Faceless Ones: "A fast evolving plot and a great mix of scariness and humour" 5 star review, Sunday Express "Hard-boiled detective wisecracks mixed with magic." The Times "Fast and funny" The imes "A magical mystery that grabs you from the first word and doesn't let go, not even when you're finished, and leaves you gasping for more like a fish out of water. Terrifyingly good!" First News "The third book in this hilarious series featuring the skeleton detective will set the kids' spines tingling!" Asda magazine

Book Description

It's the fourth Skulduggery Pleasant adventure! only Skulduggery Pleasant himself is lost on the other side of a portal, with only some evil gods for company. Can he possible survive? (Yes, all right, he's already dead. But still.) What can we say, without giving too much away? Not much, is the answer. But what we CAN say is that this book is hilarious, it's tense, and it's packed with all the eye-popping action, crackling one liners and imaginative set pieces you've come to expect. There's a new threat to our plucky heroine, of course. But that's not all. There's also the little fact of the Big Bad, the uber-baddy who's going to come along and really, really destroy the world. (Really.) And what we learn about that villain in this book will literally make your jaw fall off and your hair go white with shock. (Not really.) Will Skulduggery make it out of the Faceless Ones' dimension? Who knows. The problem is, he may not have much to come back to!

5.0 out of 5 stars Son Actually Reads It, July 16 2010
This review is from: Skulduggery Pleasant: Dark Days (Hardcover)
Bought for my son - haven't read myself, but any book that causes him to voluntarily give up video game time must be amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Darker Yet Pleasant Read, Jun 24 2010
By Tea Time - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Skulduggery Pleasant: Dark Days (Paperback)
I am a 40 something fan of this series and couldn't wait to read Book 4, so I ordered it from a seller in the UK. I will have to disagree with the previous negative review of the book. This book may not be as fast paced as the previous 3 books, but there is still plenty of action and the usual Derek Landy humor and cliff-hanger chapters. Derek is a very visual writer and all of the action scenes in his books read much like a graphic novel. This is the first book of the second Trilogy and it does take on a darker tone, but I don't agree that there is a lack of quality or that Derek rushed this book. It was still a very enjoyable read and Derek did a good job with the continued development of his characters. He has also foreshadowed an interesting scenario that I am eager to see play out. This is a great series and I am surprised that readers in the United States have so far passed it by. As of this date, no contract has been signed to distribute Dark Days in the United States. I am hoping that will change quickly, since book 5, Mortal Coil, will be released to the rest of the world this September.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!!!, May 30 2010
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This is the 4th book in the Skulduggery Pleasant series-I'm a HUGE fan!!! Unlike the previous books, this one starts with Valkyrie on her own :( She is feeling insecure, especially without Skulduggery there to help her. Her character develops significantly in this book, as she learns some disturbing insights into what the future holds for her. She also develops emotionally, with the help of Fletcher Renn ;) I won't say anymore, because I don't want to spoil the book for the possible purchaser who's reading this. All I can say is that anyone who doesn't like this book or this series is a sponge brain :P

This book was amazing, I admit the first proved better, but only a pinch. The adventure, humor, and comeback of skulluggery pleasant is awesome.
