Great CD, Mar 27 2010

I tend to love the extended versions/alternate versions of songs. I hoped that this double CD would follow that trend, and it did not disappoint. On side 1, I knew what I was getting with Sky Moves Sideways 1( I had already heard it on "Stars Die-The Delerium Years 91-97")."Dislocated Day" moves up the speed of the first side and moves into a very strong, but subtle "The Moon Touches You Shoulder"."Prepare Yourself" is a great lead-in to "The Sky Moves Sideways 2", another great song. Disc 2 starts with the complete version of "Sky Moves Sideways" -alternate version (34 plus minutes), which if you love extended songs is a joy to the ears. "Stars Die" is a great song to listen to. Next we have the two version of "Moonloop", both of them are fine songs, although I prefer the longer 16 minute one myself.
I am glad that I had purchased this, and I highly recommend it to you if you're already a Porcupine Tree fan, or someone starting to listen to them.

I remember buying this at Progfest 96, based off the recommendations of someone there. "It's like Wish You Were Here, but updated". Is it? Yes. Does that suffice? No. Think about all the breathing room those fantastic 70s albums have, where you put on the album, lay back, and are transported... This Does That. From Gilmore-like guitar licks to the overwhelming soundstage (hey, I can see my universe from here), you can see the influences. But I don't care - PT is their own thing. Listen to the later albums and you see the changes. Listen to the prior albums and you see this coming.
But if you like even a little Pink Floyd, or a little bit "spacy" music, you owe it to yourself.

Porcupine Tree - Sky Moves Sideways, May 25 2012

This is the third CD band and always good. This remastered and with bonus CD was quite enriched. There are songs with good to great variations between a more melodic and electronic sounds. There is an electronic boring or repetitive. The tracks "The Sky Moves Sideways" heads are cars on the CD, but there are two songs that "Moonloop" and "Stars Die" are very interesting. The whole set is very good. There are no ugly music in this album.
