So So, just a filler book, Feb 14 2009
This review is from: Slave Harvest (Paperback)
OK, I've got a lot of mixed feeling from this book. I bought the first one (Time of the Reaper) and read it before this one and got hooked. I order the next two and I've just finished reading this one, and i got a say, this is a love hate scenario. The characters are a little weak willed and whiny in this one.
We meet up back up with Travis, Linden, Richie, Simon, Mel, Jessica, and Antony as they watch alien ships flying over earth. Everybody is panicking because of the alien ships. A counsel is held and it's decided a small party of ten are going to the nearby Vernham hill where an alien spaceship landed.
Travis and Antony among the ten make the ten mile trek to Vernham hill. They approach the ship only to be attacked.
They aliens fire down everybody but Antony and Travis. The then watch the aliens do tracker beam all the kids (who aren't dead) into their space ship.
They make the trek back to Harrington school only to find nobody there. Its here that they get captured by the aliens.
It then drags on through a part where they are imprisoned in the ship and go through an embarrassing ordeal called 'Processing' deciding if they can survive as slaves. Linden, Travis, Jessica, Mel, Richie and Anthony are deemed worthy to be slaves but Simon is sent to the disposal cell where he will be killed later.
That's only in like the first five chapters, it drags on longer through a game of cat and mouse. They escape, after finding an ally among the enemy, they find a place called an enclave where there are still living adults. But a traitor betrays them and they almost get caught before escaping again. They try to attack the alien ship but fail.
It was a fairly good book, even if there happened to be a lot of romance and let me put it frankly, a lot of scenes in the bedroom though they're not explicitly described. Overall, first book was more exciting, this is like all middle books, just filler.
