4.0 out of 5 stars Great on principle alone June 30 2008
Format:Audio CD
While this isn't his best record, it is outstanding on principle alone. Plenty of musicians have shown appreciative gestures to their fans with free releases, but it seems that those releases usually consist of b-sides , remixes, so on and so on. That said, I have to think that for Reznor to give his fans - devoted and casual alike - a record of such (even 'higher than high') quality; a passionately ferocious and whole work, has set him apart in today's popular culture. Without a doubt, there is no person in the music business that I respect more. And I'm convinced that Reznor has the utmost respect for each and every of his fans in the same way. It would be one thing if these songs were mediocre, or if there were hits and misses here. But all things considered, this is a fantastic record that is surprisingly consistent and heartfelt, and that's why I feel confident in my opinion of Reznor as a person.

I am eagerly anticipating the new tour, as well as this deluxe package.

4.0 out of 5 stars For what it is...it is great July 2 2008
Format:Audio CD
For an album that was recorded so quickly and released for free...this album is great. Some great songs on it like "head down" which are classic nails tunes that rock out big time. I dig it. I am purchasing the disc though so I can have a hard copy and not just the mp3 version.

Keep the albums coming. It is nice actually not waiting for years between releases. This is awesome!

3.0 out of 5 stars just not as good as any of his other material. March 3 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Compared to everything else he has accomplished it is average. Has a few catchy tunes but I'm more of a fan of everything else he's done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underappreciated NIN Release Sept. 20 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Even though Slip is available as a free download - this CD/DVD edition is well worth the price. The DVD showcases the band prepping for their live show and seeing them in action, up close and personal is a real pleasure. Slip feels like the bands most tight/live sounding album and it is an intense listen. Slip sounds like a mix between the stripped down "With Teeth (2005)" and the gravity of the "Broken EP (1992)". Definitely, an under appreciated release at the time and it gets better with every listen.
