Product Description

The album cover of this self-titled release depicts the members of Slipknot in creepy masks, the dark image confirmed by the presence of a parental advisory sticker. Inside, foul language and subversive lyrics complete the picture. Yet Slipknot are no Insane Clown Posse, using hyperbole to mask a lack of talent. Slipknot's sound, while indebted to the likes of Korn, is more aggressive and creative. Indeed, it's a closer kin to Slayer and death metal, yet listenable and surprisingly melodic. The common denominator among Slipknot and the late '90s crop of neo-metal-rap bands is producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Limp Bizkit), who discovered the Iowa-bred Slipknot and signed them to his label, I Am Records. His stellar production, melded with wonderfully creepy percussive elements, a sampler, a DJ, metallic-grind guitars, and singer Corey Taylor's immense passion and wide melodic range, makes Slipknot immensely listenable. Slipknot isn't for everyone, but they provide a visceral and satisfying ride for fans of the hard stuff. --Katherine Turman

I was introduced to slipknot through a drummer freind. I was a bit hesitant at first, but through more and more listening, i have come to restpect them as "musicians" of a sort. I started with Vol. 3 and worked my way back through their diskography. I used to hate slipknot due to the screamy, distorted sound, but i have come to realize that it is a distinct sound. The musicians are amazing, especially drummer Joey Jordison. This is the most raw and harsh of the three most popular albums, but it's interesting to see where they started...Here is a song by song review...

1-742617000027 (3/5) as far as intro tracks go, i like the way it leads up to (sic). And for your info, the words are "the whole thing i think is SIC" , not S**T.

2-(sic) (5/5) great song! It really shows joey's speed on the double kick!

3- Eyel Ess (5/5) Aparently inspired by a crazy person heard chanting "you can't see california without Marlon Brando's eyes" Great track!

4- Wait and Bleed (4.5/5) Nice to hear some singing. vocal contast!

5- Surfacing (4.5/5) good song. more sick kick from Joey!

6- Spit it Out (5/5) Makes you want to headbang!

7-Tattered and Torn- (4/5)a bit strange, but different. I personally have no problem with the remakes. I think some of them are better, and considering how difficult it is to get your hands on the old ones, i have no problem.

8- Me Inside (5/5) When I first heard this song, i thought it was from one of the newer albums due to the melodious singing! Great track! Corey actually has a decent voice, later developed in later albums.

9- Liberate (4/5) good track. bit laggy in the middle.

10- Prosthetics (4/5) Erie tune, but still cool.

This is the best slipknot cd to date and here is what I think of the CD:
742617000027: It is a pretty spooky intro for (SIC) but I wouldn't listen to this track over and over again. 7/10
(SIC): Great opening for this CD and a good guitar line. 10/10
Eyeless: This is a nice headbanging song but kind of gets boring after listening to it a lot. 9.5/10
Wait and Bleed: COREY IS ACTUALLY SINGING IN THIS ONE very good song. 9/10
Surfacing: I would say that this song is better album version than live-Mick has the greatest guitar opening in this one. 10/10
Spit It Out: JESUS CHRIST I would give this 20/10 but i can't go over rate. Corey is pissed off right here! 10/10+
Tattered and Torn: Nice gothic sounding but not to much of a rocking song. 7/10
Me Inside: I love this song that is all i have to say. 10/10
Liberate: Again sounds better here than live. 9.5/10
Prosthetics: Verry spooky sounding in the beginning but gets into gothic headbanging. 10/10
No Life: This is a very good song but not the best. 9/10
Diluted: I would say that it was evolved from Interloper but it is good (Interloper is better) 8/10
Only One: I would have to say that this isn't a very good song to me. 6.5/10
Scissors: Too frigging long!!! 5/10
Spit It Out(Remix): Original is better but this sounds like a demo. 9/10
Wait and Bleed(Terry Date Remix): This is pretty good too. 9.5/10
Interloper: HERE IT HAS COME the greatest song on the cd the head hancho the big cheese. 10/10+++
Despise: The "My state of mind gets so one-sided" and "HANDSONMYFACEOVERBEARINGICANTGETOUT" were good but i love this song also. 10/10
Surfacing: Didn't bother listening to it because i don't really listen to live stuff on cd. 7/10
I would give this cd a 10/10+

Slipknot is a band made up of 9 members. Some people think that is stupid but I think thats awesome. That's one of the reasons there one of the best bands. The drumming is great. Joey is probably the best drummer ever. Sid is great on the turntables. Yes this band actually has a person with turtables but it is awesome for what it's used for.
There members are:
8- Vocals- Corey Taylor
7- Guitar- Mick
0- Turntables- Sid
6- Custom Percussion- Shawn
2- Bass- Paul
1- Drums- Joey Jordinson
3- Custom Percussion- Chris
4- Guitar- James
5- Samples,Media- Craig
Them waring masks is also cool. There masks are very cool. Why do people complain about there masks anyway. They say that they don't like the music because of them wearing masks. What does that have to do with there music.
The only thing thats a little bad about the songs is that there too short. Only 2 or 3 minutes long.(Most of the good ones)
The songs:
1-742617000027-(:35)- 10/10-One of my favorite intros ever.
2-(Sic)-(3:19)- 10/10
4-Wait and Bleed-(2:27)-10/10
6-Spit it Out-(2:39)-10/10
7-Tattered and Torn-(2:53)-9/10
8-Me Inside-(2:39)-10/10
11-No Life-(2:47)-8/10
13-Only One-(2:24)-8/10
15-Get This-(2:03)-10/10
16-Spit It Out (Hyper Version)-(2:24)-10/10
17-Wait and Bleed (Terry Dat Mix)-(2:31)-10/10
18-Interloper (Demo)-(2:18)-10/10
19-Despise (Demo)-(3:41)-9/10
20-Surfacing (Live)-(3:37)-9/10
The extra track continues from track 20 and there are two different parts.
