Sly 2: Band of Thieves is a comic crime caper that continues the story of Sly Cooper, master thief and hero! A 'real' review,

Sly 2: Band of theives is the sequel to the first Sucker Punch PS2 adventure, "Sly Cooper and the Thevious Raccoonus". In this new and improved sequel, many things have changed for the better.First of all, Sly has a actual health meter, unlike the first game.The game is much, much longer than the first, being divided into eight large chapters, which take place in GTA-style explorable areas, which was a nice addition. Another big change is the ability to play as Murray and Bentley - Sly's two childhood friends from the first game. Each of them has special abilities, which you can buy on a thing called 'Theif Net', when you go to a 'Safe House' located in the large explorable worlds. I enjoyed the characters, although it was annoying to play as Bentley, who seemed weakest of the characters. Collecting coins by smashing things in the areas is fun, and stealing things from the ememy characters allows you to process to new areas/levels and buy new stuff when you sell the stolen goods on Theif Net. It's a great sequel, and much more challenging than the first. If you enjoy platformers, and can take a mix of sleath, then buy this game, I thought it was fun. I'd also recommend Jak II and 3 if you like GTA-style enviroments. Since this is rated E, it is a 'family' game aswell, so, Mom, don't worry about anything if the kids are playing this. ;)

Superb, stylish platformer,

I was a big fan of the first Sly Cooper, with my only complaint being the length of the game. With Sly 2, my issues have been addressed. This game is about twice the length of the first, and the improved script makes for a game in which we actually care for the characters. All together I was very satisfied with the game, although my one annoyance is that you cannot go back to replay some of the missions after they have been cleared. Small issue, but still there.

Sly 2 represents an almost perfect blend between action adventure and platforming in a nice, cartoon-style package and a story well told. And with a difficulty level I would rate as balanced, although most reviews would descibe it as too easy. Well, that's relative since I think you should have a fair chance to actually complete a game, especially if it is family oriented. And while most other platformers are simply to frustrating to provide enough incentive to play all the way through, Sly 2 allows to progress in a pace that actually allows to enjoy and follow the story rather than repeating levels over and over again, losing track of why you are actually doing it. In addition, Sly 2 is wildly humorous, taking you to places you'd normally never connect, like Paris, India, Prague and the northern parts of Canada. And creatively spiced with charcters you may already know if you have played the game's predeccessor, plus a number of new ones. Anyhow, five stars because of the high value of the production, ranging from the great cell shaded graphics, good control scheme, music and voice acting, combining all this into a great entertainment package. With a price tag under $20, a value that's hard to beat.
