"The Smart Cookies' story will inspire you, and the successful strategies they share will help you improve your finances and your life. There are definitely Smart Women who are Finishing Rich!"
—David Bach, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Smart Women Finish Rich and The Automatic Millionaire

"Anyone who's afraid to take hold of her financial life should grab this inspiring book with both hands. These five women, who started as a 'collective financial mess,' turned their situations around in less than a year."
—Liz Pulliam Weston, MSN Money columnist and author of Deal with Your Debt

"The enterprising authors address the nitty-gritty of goal setting, negotiations for raises, debt management and mortgages, and their plainspoken, encouraging style and helpful breakdown of information make this the perfect gift for recent grads – or anyone who needs convincing that financial health is attainable."
Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“The Smart Cookies weave their likeable, identifiable personal narratives through all of their work, making them appear as a five-element every-woman.”

Product Description

Inspired by an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show on personal finance, the Smart Cookies, five dynamic young women who weren’t always so savvy about money, formed a "money club," and together developed strategies for turning their financial lives around – without surrendering their sanity or their social lives.

In this guide, the Cookies demonstrate how women of all ages can achieve financial security. They share their own stories, offer easy-to-follow steps, and lay out simple plans for meeting any goal, whether it’s eliminating debt, making good investments, becoming a smart spender or saving up for a big-ticket purchase.

The Smart Cookies' Guide to Making More Dough invites every reader to become "the sixth cookie," to take control of their financial lives and have fun doing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!, Oct 16 2008
By Sarah Deveau (Airdrie, Alberta) - See all my reviews

A friend recommended this book (she's cousins with Katie) and I picked it up hoping to find something different than the usual fare offered in books like Smart Women Finish Rich or Suze Orman's books. I was pleasantly surprised! I loved how open and honest the women are about their financial situations, and how difficult it was for them to open up. The writing is approachable and easy to read, and I liked that while there were worksheets and questions to answer, it wasn't a workbook.

I guess they have a tv show, which I've never seen, and an online subscription to help you find a money group in your area. They have inspired me to sign up and get better control of my financial future.

Definitely a great book, and one that offers a lot of great advice (not the tired old latte factor cliches).

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok read for those of us who have no clue where their paycheck goes, Oct 28 2009
By S. Winsor (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews

but to those of us who already have a budget and stick to it, this book doesn't help much. Some of the girls in this book easily spent their pay on 12 pairs of $300 jeans, whereas I buy on a 'need' only basis. I spend $50 max on a pair of jeans once or twice a year and they last me years.

I was hoping this book would get a little more into investing secrets as opposed to budgeting basics, but it doesn't. I prefer David Bach's Smart Women Finish Rich MUCH better. In fact, I'm reading it for the 3rd time.
