Decent scale for the price, but it does have some problems, namely that it's very inaccurate when weighing anything under 10mg. Also the displayed weight begins to constantly decrease after a few seconds of turning it on. Would not recommend this scale if you need accuracy under the 10mg range, but otherwise it works well.

This scale is extremely small, about the size of an average hand, could easily fit in a back pocket or in a hoody pocket.

This scale has some aestetics, but if you are not looking for the precision buy the ACC200 Accustar pocket scale which is even smaller and has a bigger surface area to place your measuring goods!

Pros:

Extremely accurate up to 0.001g!
Batteries included (rare these days)
2 x 10g weights to see precision of this little machine!
Small
Practically weightless
Easy to read
Tweezers
Cheap, good price

Cons:
Pretty much none!

Good scale, works well and it is as precise as advertised. I work with weights from 100mg to 200mg and I accept a margin of 10mg. It's stable at that interval. Comes with batteries, a little recipient and pincers. You can zero the scale with the recipient on it. The scale also provides a calibration protocol to keep itself true. If you require a 1mg precision, I would recommend a more precise scale.

I got this scale for the sole purpose of weighing items less than 10mg, but this scale does not. If I keep adding light object to it, the weight will not change at all until suddenly it changes for like .016 or .022. It is quite accurate in all measurements high than that. But I already have a scale that does that.... I wanted this one for the extra decimal place, but it seems kind of pointless

By Brett H #1 HALL OF FAMETOP 10 REVIEWER on July 29 2014
I have an ongoing use for an accurate portable scale suitable for small items. We tend to visit our local auction on a weekly basis and my wife has a liking for jewellery which can be an outstanding bargain there. However, the majority of bidders are professionals who are interested in the scrap value of the items in the auction, rather than any aesthetic appeal, and bid accordingly so as to make a profit. It is hugely helpful to be able to assess the scrap value of items and pitch bids accordingly. This item is perfect for the job.

These scales are a convenient size being approximately 4.0 inches by 3.5 inches by an inch, and can easily be carried in my wife's handbag. As far as accuracy is concerned, when I tested these against the two 10 gram weights supplied, they came in at about 0.02 of a gram heavy. This level of accuracy is fine for my purposes. However, I then used the recalibration method described in the instructions which was very simple and took all of about 30 seconds and they then measured within 0.002 of a gram of the supplied weights.

The scales are only suitable for relatively small items as the range is up to 20 grams or roughly 0.7 of an ounce. As a guide a ring would typically weigh about 3 grams. They take two AAA batteries which are supplied and easily replaced with a clip-on cover at the back. The unit turns itself off after a short period of non use to preserve battery life. Alternative measurements are in carats, grains, OZT or DWT.

I was very impressed with this set of scales which was exactly what I was looking for. Smart Weigh are very good at manufacturing this sort of precision item - this is the second very small digital scale of theirs which I have reviewed and I have had no significant criticism of either.

By Margaret Picky TOP 1000 REVIEWER on July 15 2014
This digital scale is intended for jewels or other small objects, with a maximum capacity of 20 g in 0.001 g increments; 100 ct in 0.005 ct increments; 308.8 gn in 0.02 gn increments, or 12.86 dwt in 0.001 dwt increments. As one would expect, it is quite accurate.

The weighing bowl has a 1 1/4 in. diameter, a handle and small spout, perfect for mélée or metal dust. There is a hinged plastic cover to protect the mechanism. Underneath is the battery compartment with two AAA batteries included—don’t forget to remove the plastic strip that protects them from discharge during shipping. There are also four little non-slip feet.

The display is very easy to read and the buttons are easy to operate. It is a simple matter to calibrate, tare, or to change units and there is even an add-up feature for calculating the total weight of multiple objects.

Two 10 g calibration weights are included as well as a pair of fine-pointed tweezers for handling diamond melee or other tiny objects. There is a small pamphlet with complete instructions. The sturdy box is intended for long-term storage and is covered in glossy stock with foam inserts and a dual magnetic closure. The box is approximately 6 1/2 in. x 5 in. x 1 3/4 in.

This set is accurate and complete and is ideal for hobbyists. I would especially recommend this for anyone buying or selling jewelry to insure accurate weights and thus accurate prices; it could easily pay for itself.

It didn't tare properly with the provided "10g" weights, and just looking at the design it couldn't have measure anything. The weigh sensing mechanism was a poorly aligned, poorly tensioned spring that was inconsistant and more often than not would get stuck.

Complete waste of money.
