Re: Smart Bounce by Keith Richards,
By
This review is from: Smartbounce: 3 Action Steps to Portfolio Recovery (Paperback)
I decided to pick up a copy of Smart Bounce after becoming aware of Keith Richards from his articles in Investor's Digest of Canada, a publication that I have subscribed to for many years.First off, this is a short book, 110 pages in all, but don't let that fool you. Mr Richard's packs more than enough thought provoking information to keep you well amused and continually questioning yourself. Market crashes do one thing that is for sure, they promote people to put pen to paper and share their experience and knowledge, in the hope that lessons will be learned and mistakes not repeated, this book in no different in that respect. What really made this book stand from literally an ocean of "How To Invest Your Money" books was the way it was written. It reads like you are sitting in a room listening to the author in conversation, a very difficult thing to do when writing about one of the driest subjects known to man, "financial planning/investing". I have an extensive collection of financial books that would easily put an insomniac to sleep in a few short chapters. Something that was very obvious to me from the start is that Mr. Richards has had no doubt many years of experience dealing with novice to intermediate investors. The way he has constructed this book into 3 Action steps makes in almost too simple to think possible. But he goes deep enough into the details with out being overly technical. The key here is the simplicity of his 3 steps. Whether you are making your own investment decisions or using a financial planner, following the authors advice will give you all the necessary tools to guide you through the steps of building a portfolio that will survive and prosper in the coming years, regardless of your age. My suggestion is that you read the chapter "Final Thoughts" first, get the juices flowing, grab your pen and notebook and dig in. A wealth of good information here that would be in great company with Thackray's 2010 Investors' guide. Cheers Neil Bowie Vernon, BC, CANADA
