As a health care professional, I'm always on the lookout for books that will help empower my patients and help them to reach their healthy goals. This book provides excellent, sound information that is very practical and ready to implement. I especially love the workbook exercises which allow for introspection, reflection, and goal formation. The book is also well-written and filled with anecdotes that make it a pleasure to read. A "must have" for anyone looking to make meaningful changes in their lives.

A great resource for executive and life coaches, Oct 14 2011
By Margaret Greenberg "Executive Coach" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Smarts and Stamina (Paperback)
Smarts and Stamina: The Busy Person's Guide to Optimal Health and Performance is meant to be read with pencil in hand. The book is chock full of reflective exercises that move the reader into action. I loved the diagnostic in the beginning of the book that helps you determine where to focus first: sleep, exercise, diet or mood. I've already implemented three of the tips to living a healthier life and they work! They work because they aren't just Britton and Shaar's opinion - all of the tips in Smarts and Stamina are backed by the latest science. Besides being a great resource for oneself, as an executive coach I saw immediate application to my busy clients. I will now include Smarts and Stamina on my recommended reading list.

Brimming with Wisdom and Practical Steps!, Sep 24 2011

This book, "Smarts and Stamina: The Busy Person's Guide to Optimal Health and Performance" by Marie-Josee Shaar and Kathryn Britton, under-promises and over-delivers! Packed with pithy and punchy prescriptions for living a happier and healthier life and brimming with brilliant practical steps for busy men and women like me, the book is worth many, many times it's cover price. I read ALOT of books every month and this one deserves top billing, period.
Like Marie-Jose's weekly newsletter, this book cuts to the chase. It includes over 50 practical steps to improve not just your body, but your mind and soul, too!
If you, like me, are busier than ever - and more exhausted than ever - due to an overbooked professional and personal life, you'll find this book helpful for not only yourself, but for your family, your friends, and your colleagues, too. It's a great read... and a great gift - to yourself and the people you most care about. What's more valuable than the health and well-being of yourself and the people you must love and cherish in the world?!
For me, real success means never sacrificing what matters most for what matters least; real success means remembering (and taking care of) what's most important in your life. Marie-Jose Shaar and Kathryn Britton not only remind us what's truly important; they help us to do something about it, too. The minimal amount time, money, and energy you spend on this book will save you exponentially more time, money, and energy over the course of your lifetime. This much is certain. Run - don't walk - to get this book. It really is that good.
