About the Author

Jeff Phillips was born in North Carolina, and was raised on southern cooking. As a teenager, he began experimenting with cooking over grills and campfires; eventually he moved on to smoking units that could fit an entire pig! Five years ago, he began compiling all of his expertise onto a website, which has now expanded to include more than 300 pages of recipes and tutorials. Jeff lives in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, on a ten-acre farm with his wife and three children.

What a super cookbook! The author spends a lot of time educating we newbies to the art of smoking. His instructions and suggestions are well written and easy to understand. The author comes across as a patient and well versed expert in the art of cooking in a smoker. Very happy I decided to choose this one over several others I previewed.

This is a great introduction to the art and science of smoking meats. It is very straightforward, detailed in its approach and pretty comprehensive for an actual book. Lots of pictures, lots of recipes and lots of guidance along the way. Its a very good start and I'll use it well.

When you first purchase your smoker it is confusing.what wood to use, how long to smoke, rubs, brine etc.
This book explains it all and there are many excellent easy to follow recipes.
