Highly limited value. Dec 22 2006

"Snow (Hey Oh)" is the third single from "Stadium Arcadium". One of the strongest songs from the album, Warner Bros. chose to release the single in two parts-- the first with one b-side, the second with two.

The title track itself really is one of the great Chili Peppers pieces-- featuring a delicate, speed picked guitar line and a loping, deeply grooved bassline on the verses and a driven, almost forceful chorus, it also has the pleasure of finding vocalist Anthony Kiedis in his best form, setting up a fine mood and a pretty, delicate melody that stands up on its own with no difficulty.

The b-side for part 1 is a track called "Permutation", recorded live in Montreal. It's the sort of live jam that fills a lot of the Chili Peppers singles-- Flea lays down some nice chordal work over which John Frusciante solos and a couple minutes through, they reverse the trend before both soloing together, twisting about each other. It's a decent enough jam and both Flea and Frusciante play nicely, but quite frankly for the cash I ponied up for the single, I'm kind of annoyed this is all I got.

I can't really give this less than two stars-- "Snow" is a really strong track, but the fact is, this is of limited value. If you need to have it, by all means, get it, but at least know what you're getting.

Music for the upcoming spring or summer Feb. 12 2007

The A-Side track "Snow ((Hey Oh))" is a great song. In my opinion, "Snow" is one of the best songs on the double-disc album. The B-Sides are also great. And when I say "great" I mean they are better than a few of the A-Side cuts that landed on the actual album.

If I would have been in charge of selecting tracks for "Stadium Arcadium", I would have placed both these songs on the album (and I would not have chosen "Make You Feel Better" or "If").

"Funny Face" and "I'll Be Your Domino" are better than "Make You Feel Better" and "If".

By the way, everything the Chilies create is GOLD. Buy it you silly goose!

Enjoying this 4 track single. There's some completely unexpected material which is better than the full album it relates to so I'm wondering why they were placed here. Snow is a really good song with thoughtful lyric and driving riffs rising vocal harmonies that demand a 2nd listen every time. Funny Face and I'll Be Your Domino are both rad but more like their older albums. Domino is classic funk-rock Chili Peppers with some tight wha stabs. Permutation recorded live is interesting. It's like a conversation between Flea and Josh Klinghoffer with both playing melodically and switching from support to lead from one sentence or paragraph to the next. Very cool tracks and worth a listen for any fan of this band.

Snow is an OK song afterall it did make the radio but the real gems here are the B sides. Funny Face is a reagga really this song sounds so much like reagga its surprising and shocking more Pepper songs don't have the same reagga feel considering how well this one flows. I'll be your domino on the other hand is all pop simillar to Hump De Bump off the parent album. Very upbeat rythym and the use of the horn makes this one very catchy....true fans NEED to hear theese 2

Love the CD and it has songs on it I hadn't even heard! The CD came in a timely fashion with no harm done to it.
