I have a thing to tell you and it won't take long...LOVE this book!,
By Mother Daughter Book Reviews (Vancouver BC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Snuggle Puppy (Board book)
This review consists of two parts: 1. my review (Mom's) and 2. my son's review of this book (he's 5).SON SAYS: I find this book interesting because the Mommy dog talks to her Baby dog and the dogs stand up on their two feet but they don't actually do that in real life. My Mommy sings this song to me and I like it. They bake cookies in the book and the puppy likes them. The Mommy dog must really love her puppy because she keeps saying it throughout the book. I like the kisses inside the book and I like it when my Mom gives me a real kiss when she sings the song. The big words are really surprising and when the words get big, my Mom sings really loud. The end is very surprising because my Mom sings very softly and then really loudly. My favorite pictures are when the Mommy is swinging her puppy up in the air because it looks like fun; the one where the puppy is standing on his head with a ball on this feet; and, the one where the puppy is jumping in the pile of leaves. I like all the pictures because they are funny. When I was little, this was one of my favorite books that my Mommy read to me. MOM SAYS: This book tells the tale of the love between a Mommy dog and her little puppy. [Ok, let's ignore the fact that usually dogs have multiple pups in one litter.] The Mommy sings a love song for her little puppy while the two are baking cookies. She sings of her love through all the seasons all of which is illustrated in signature Sandra Boynton style: let's just call it unique! I love, love, love any children's books by Sandra Boynton! But Snuggle Puppy is one of my all-time favorites. I love to hold my kids in my arms and sing along to this book. I, of course, sing my own version of the song, but apparently there is a real version of this song. I still sing along to the book to my children who are 5 and 8, but really it's more like they are indulging me by LETTING me sing to them. I would recommend any Sandra Boynton book to parents with kids aged 1 and older, but if you don't really want to sing along, there are other of Sandra Boynton's children's books that may be better: Barnyard Dance (ok, I sing that one too!), Hey! Wake Up!, Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs, and Hey You! are some of our favorites. Please come visit us at our website!

This review is from: Snuggle Puppy (Board book)
I purchased this book not knowing much about the author and im very glad i did. Sandra Boyton books are very appealing and have fun story lines. My little girl who is now 20 months has enjoyed this book since she was 10 months(when i purchased it). The simple illustrations and catchy words make it fun for her and me! She tries to sing along and the message in the book is wonderful for any child!

This review is from: Snuggle Puppy (Board book)
My son is 15 months and always busy busy busy - too busy to cuddle. However, when we read this book (he often takes it off the shelf and brings it over to me) he stays attentive for the whole book and laughs at the "OOOOOOOOOOOOOO I Love You!" parts. It's a great book to use to demonstrate to your child how special they are to you.
