The Olsen twins are doing their clotheshorse boy-crazy thing again, this time in a half-hour comedy format. This first compilation of five episodes from their ABC Family Channel series introduces Chloe (Ashley) and Riley (Mary-Kate) and their separated parents. Mary-Kate alone received a 2002 Daytime Emmy nomination for this series. While stellar acting has never been the main appeal of this pair, Mary-Kate clearly has the more interesting role. Precredit "reality" openers show the pair faux-squabbling over Ashley's more romantic onscreen life (with the oh-so-dreamy Ben Easter), but this leaves Mary-Kate to ponder superficiality, write a grunge rock song, and negotiate the thorny path of trying to keep a lifelong friend even when he's fallen for her. The girls live with Fashion Designer Mom (Clare Carey) in a fab Malibu beach house, while their Dad (Eric Lutes) drops out to find himself by living in a nearby trailer park. Mary-Kate and Ashley fans will recognize Easter and Riley's wheelchair date (Billy Aaron Brown) from their previous film
Holiday in the Sun. (Ages 8 and up)
