This is a cute little cook book. I had a chance to try several of the recipes over the last few months.I like to find something different for potlucks or bake sales. I don't like making the same thing. So I ordered this book hoping to find something different.The first recipe in the cookies section was a sugar cookie, now most people have their own sugar cookie recipe but I still like to try other recipes. This one didn't take as much sugar as other recipes and turned out a nice cookie, nothing out of this world, but a good cookie. With the holidays most sugar cookies get loaded with extra sugar so cut the calories where you can.I didn't try any other cookies. The Whoopie pie recipes took my interest. There were several that I tried, they also go quickly at bake sales. I tried the Red Velvet and a Kahlua and Cream, after all Whoopie pies aren't just for kids. Both of those were good. The recipes use All Purpose flour which I liked since it is mostly what I have. Some of the baking books require different types of flour, like cake or self rising and although you can sub the flours, I will pass over those and look for recipes that use AP. (No reason, it's just me.) The book also has cupcake recipes but a fairly standard collection and a section on doughnuts. I didn't try those, not my thing.The print was a little small but that was because of the book's size and the pictures were nice, one with almost each recipe.

I ordered this book for my nine-year-old daughter for a Christmas treat. She loves making sweet things and this book is just right to start her cooking journey. It is small and fits perfectly in my daughter's hands. We have made about 6 recipes from the book and most of them have been so good we've eaten them quickly. I made the peppermint/chocolate whoopie pies for my Christmas book club and they were a huge hit. I don't have a donut pan yet but when I get one I will try the many recipes in the last section of the book. This book will be used by us for many years to come.
