Solution Focused Interventions in Mental Health
provides a practical introduction to solution focused brief therapy for anyone working in the arena of mental health in a primary care setting. Unlike most other texts in this area, which are written for the mental health counsellor, or psychotherapist, this text is aimed at those other individuals who work on a daily basis with people with mental health problems, but who are not seen as 'therapists', such as nurses and social workers.
Divided into three sections, the first provides an accessible overview of the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of solution focused practice. The second section provides an easy to follow, detailed guide to how to ‘do’ solution focused practice. Section 3 places solution focused practice in context with other post-modern and systemic therapeutic approaches.
