5.0 out of 5 stars Something Deadly this Way Comes Aug 16 2011
By Lili Lost in a Book - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Madison is still getting used to being the dark timekeeper and boss of all the dark reapers. It's a lot to ask for from a girl who is still in high school. She is also still trying to convince the seraphs that killing someone before their soul dies or slapping a guardian angel on them so the dark reapers won't kill them is not the only thing to do. Madison believes in choice. And it they can convince the "target" to change their lifestyle before a dark reaper kills them or a light reaper gives them a guardian angel, it could change the way reapers do things.

But of course, it won't be easy. Madison is one step away from getting her body back, but once she does, will she have to give the amulet back. She knows that before she said that once she found her body she would give it back...but now she's not so sure she want to give up her position as the dark timekeeper.

I absolutely loved this book! It was a satisfying ending to the series...I guess. It's kinda sad and I wish we would hear more of Madison in the future though =/

I really liked the characters, the plot, Madison's relationship with Josh...everything! I'll be looking into more books by this author, that's for sure :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Fate vs. Choice May 24 2011
By A Book Obsession.. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Ever since Madison was killed and thrust into leading the Dark Reapers as their Timekeeper on the side of Fate, her life has been one big chaotic mess. She would give almost anything to to change her fate and be just a normal girl again. However, she also realizes that the system must change, and she is just the girl for job. Well, the only girl that is. Everyone else seems content with the way things have been for a Milena or more. It's an uphill battle but one that she firmly believes in. Things get a little complicated when she finds her body and has the chance to step aside. Will she take that temptation to be normal again or will she step up and fight for what she believes in?

From the start of this series there has always been the looming conflict between fate and choice. Madison of course blurs those lines despite her fated role as the Dark Timekeeper placing her firmly on the dark side according to the Seraphs. She has a way of changing other people's (or reaper's) outlook on things. While she may think she is "ruining" them, I actually think in the long run she is helping them. By opening their eyes to new possibilities they are able to experience so much more than they ever did before. Of course the road is still very bumpy with plenty of obstacles in the way, but Madison just seems to be able to give them the "push" they need to get started. Heck, even her supposed exact opposite, Paul the rising Light Timekeeper, has been influenced by her. This fact, as well as many other things is what makes Madison a really fantastic character.

I really love the dynamic between the characters in this series. There is a whole lot of conflict between them, both external and internal. All of that comes to head in this book. I especially enjoyed seeing both Nakita and Barnabas start to accept their inner turmoils and turn those confused feelings into action and acceptance. Of course with Madison being the game changing influence that she is, they were bound to feel her influence. What does it mean when the Dark starts acting like the Light and the Light starts acting like the Dark? That is just one of the conflict the characters are dealing with. The important thing is not the actual changes, but the reasoning behind those new choices that will make all the difference.

As far as I understand, Something Deadly This Way Comes is the last installment in the Madison Avery Series. I feel it ending things rather well with a sense of completion. And yet... I also feel like there could be so much more as things ended not really with a resolution, but more of a clear path for the future instead. Personally I would love to see some of that future, so I'm crossing my fingers that in one format or another we will get more. This book took everything great from the series and combined it all together, ending in a very unexpected way. If you enjoyed the first two books, then this one won't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars the new Grim Reaper team May 31 2011
By Paul Jutras - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I just got this book and read over half of it in four hours. It grabs hold and takes you for a ride that much. Since the first book Madison has been struggling the the blurred lines of her new job as time keeper of the dark reapers. Instead killing people to save their souls or assigning a guardian angel Madison Avery wants a third choice of getting the mark to choice a new path in life. She has already done it once by accident and want to do it again to prove to the higher ups that her idea wasn't just a fluke. When she finds her missing body and have a chance to return to a normal like her own choices are even greater than ever.

I love the relationships between the main team of Madison, Nakita and Barnabas who has great team chemistry between them as all three suffer to overcome their own kind of inner turmoils while at the same time trying to keep Tammy and her brother from dying in an apartment fire. Even light Time Keeper Ron seems to be questioning Madison's methods over the traditional waves more in this book.

As I understand it this is the last book in this series and had a wonderful ending. Like some other series I've read however this book also leaves way in case Kim Harrison wishes to do anything story down the line in the future. Over all this book took everything I loved from the first two in the trilogy and put it into this one.
