This review is from: Son Da Chiesa/Trattenimenti (Audio CD)
On these very full (running 79 minutes each) two (2) disc Hyperion recording of eighteen (18) of Albinoni four (4) movement sonatas (opus 4 and 6) for solo violin and continuo (consisting of harpsichord and/or organ and cello), I was able to enjoy another rather unfamiliar, to me, "side" of Albinoni's compositional skills. The sonatas on these discs are very fine examples of "High" Baroque chamber music that are very melodic, graceful and elegant sounding.

The Locatelli Trio play these sonatas most beautifully; Elizabeth Wallfisch on violin is especially wonderful playing all of the works with beautiful tone and a keen sense of rhythm. The recorded sound is very good too.
