Product Description

From Amazon.com

Son of the Mask is a frantic sequel tailor-made for short attention spans. For 86 manic minutes, this belated follow-up to 1994's Jim Carrey hit The Mask compensates for Carrey's absence by casting Jamie Kennedy as a cut-rate animator who becomes heavily animated himself (courtesy of non-stop computer-animated effects) when he dons the ancient mask that belongs to Loki (Alan Cumming, nicely cast), the Norse god of mischief. As in the Carrey film, the mask turns its wearers into cartoonish whirlwinds of confident bluster, and that includes a little dog named Otis, and especially Kennedy's mask-induced offspring, a frenetic shape-shifting baby that's more creepy than comedic, like Ally McBeal's dancing infant on steroids and speed. This woebegone sequel quickly vanished from theaters, but it's a harmless babysitter that kids will enjoy, from the director of the similarly effects-driven Cats & Dogs. --Jeff Shannon

Description

A decade after the legendary Mask of Loki wreaked havoc on the life of an unsuspecting adult, the magical mask finds its way into the possession of a child. When cartoonist Tim Avery's new son is born with the Mask's spectacular powers - to the dismay of the family's jealous dog - it turns the household upside down and launches a kid versus canine battle for control of the Mask. But unbeknownst to them all, Loki has come looking for his mask and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it back!

Bonus Materials include: Commentary with Director Larry Guterman, Jamie Kennedy and Writter Lance Khazei; "Chow Bella - Hollywood's Pampered Pooches"; "Creating Son of The Mask: Digital Diapers and Dog Bytes"; "Paw Prints and Baby Steps: On the Set of Son of The Mask"; Deleted Scenes with Optional Director commentary; Photo Galleries; Theatrical Trailer; More From New Line; DVD-ROM and more!

Great entertainment........... May 19 2005
Format:DVD
This should be a 4.5 stars. Very rare that the sequels can compare to the original, but this sequel does it. Good acting, good script
lots of looney tunes type of cartoon characters....
They had guts to put a muscial number at the beginning...but it
works and from there the movie picks up and never lets go.
I rarely watch movies twice, but this one i could watch again and
again.

Great!!! July 28 2005

OK, most people think this movie was going to suck big time because of the cartoon-like commercials and the wacked out posters, and NO JIM CARREY, but this movie was actually a good and warm hearted piece of family fun, and I enjoyed it. Since I usually hate sequels, I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I actually enjoyed it and currently own it in my DVD collection. Great movie, and I recommend it!

Could be scary for young kids Oct 18 2011
By Cassie
Format:DVD
I watched this with my 9 year old son, and the first time we watched it, we were surprised at some of the frightening scenes. The next day though, we were able to laugh about them, and this has now become one of our favorite movie-night picks. Some of the scary things could be when the baby morphs unexpectedly, or a grown man voice comes out of the little baby's mouth, again, unexpectedly, things like that. Maybe watch it first to see if your children might be frightened.
But all in all, it's a pretty fun movie.
