John Picacio is a big name when it comes to artists working in the field of fantasy and science fiction, having done many covers and illustrations. When it was announced that he would the calendar after the already excellent work from Ted Nasmith last year, mich rejoicing could be seen.
I received the calendar and I must say I am well pleased with it. Beautiful work all around. My particular favorites were a very striking Tyrion ( probably the best Tyrion I have seen yet), Melisandre, The Mountain vs Red Viper, Ned at the Godswood ( also the cover you see), and Bran reaching out to the 3-eyed crow. I guess the only one that feels a bit off to me is the one that shows The Others. It's still much better than the strange depiction of The Others in the tv series, but it's also still different from described, they should still be more angular and a bit less humanoid, with ice skin that serves as armour.
So yes, very good, and highly recommended.

I always look foward to what new calendar i might get for my new year and when i saw this one i knew i had to get it. The selection of images is really good through the whole year, making me look foward to next year to display them. If you're a fan of ASOIF or the new HBO hit series based on the books, Game of Thrones, this is a great calendar to get.

I am a BIG fan of the Fire and Ice series by George Martin, - both the books and the HBO series - and I was very excited to see there was a 2012 calendar featuring some of the characters. I was a little apprehensive ordering this because I have such fantastical images of everyone and sometimes the artwork in these calendars can be disappointing.
Not in this case. It's everything I hoped for.
I would normally give a list of the characters by month, but for me at least it was more fun to look at the artwork and figure out who the character was then check at the bottom to see if I was right. I think you'll recognize every one of them, and will be pleasantly surprised by their rendition. If anything, they will enhance the already magical images you have in your head. The only disappointment for for me was Jaime - I think I have Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (the actor who plays him in the series) too firmly etched in my head.
Note - one of the previous reviews says that there is some sort of mislabeling or mixing up of the characters shown. On the actual calendar that I received, there wasn't and the names matched up correctly.
Also note that this is a good-size calendar - 11.9 x 11.8 x 0.2 inches - which takes up a lot of room if you hang up the calendar inside a cupboard door as I do. I'm not complaining since I like the large size, but wanted to say this in case if you needed a calendar to fit a smaller measurement.
