This novel of high fantasy, based in part on ancient Irish tales, explores the mystery of Stonehenge and legends of the lost lands off the west coast of England. In five linked stories, five characters face the predicted destruction of their world: Thieras, the daughter of kings; Dhan the Warrior; the self-absorbed musician, Eirech of the Silver Eyes; Siod'h the Builder; and Ainn the priestess, Lady of Birds. Told in lovely, elegiac prose, Songs from the Drowned Lands won an award for best Canadian speculative novel of the year.

A lot of strong points, but far too sexual, Sep 6 2006

The book has beautiful cover art, and what is within is just as beautiful in many moments. It had a lot of potential and pointed lessons on immortality. HOWEVER, one of the prime character's entire narrative is sex centered and shallow. He all but ruins the story
It had a LOT of potential, but fell short, unfortunately.
