Inspiring. I'd never heard of this composer before, but will be looking for other recordings of his music - hopefully done as well as here!
To answer the last reviewer, who asked for music in this vein - check out a few that occur to me:
* "New World Symphonies: Baroque Music from Latin America"
* "Greenfire: A Celtic String Ensemble" (available on BMG)
* Noirin Ni Riain, who sings ancient celtic songs
* parts of Bach's "B minor Mass"
* Motets and Anthems by Wm. Byrd.
Those works aren't from the same era as Coincy, but seem "similar in feeling", IMO.
I don't have the following album yet, but it gets rave reviews on Amazon:
"Gautier de Coincy: Miracles of Notre Dame"
This group should perform some of Hildegard's works. They might be able to bring out qualities in her works, that others have missed.
