Album Description

2008 sophomore album from the British singer/songwriter. Morrison began to learn guitar when his uncle Joe showed him how to play a Blues riff. He started busking as a teen and, after several years of playing covers, he eventually started to compose his own songs. He counts Otis Redding, Al Green, Cat Stevens, The Kinks and Van Morrison amongst his favorite artists. Features 12 tracks including 'Nothing Ever Hurt Like You' and 'Broken Strings' (featuring Nelly Furtado).

Nice sound overall - love this guy's voice. The Stevie Wonder influence he acknowledges comes through, especially on Nothing Ever Hurt Like You, which is by far my favourite track. If the whole CD were this strong, it'd be a knockout. The duet with Nelly Furtado has great harmonies, but overall I found the CD a little light.

James Morrison has more than proven with this CD that everyone should stand & take a listen! He is so talented & not since Van Morrison himself (& yet even more versatile in other genre forms) have I heard such a magnificent voice, bluesy, R&B ish, funky, alternative, indie you name the genre he can cover it & he has with his 2nd CD. The collaboration with Nelly Furtado is fabulous. Can't wait to see what he's going to do for his 3rd CD because this one is really great! Enjoy!
