Pat Pattison makes you think outside the box even after you thought you were already outside the box. His 'show me, don't tell me' advice is something we should all aspire to. Get this book. You will not regret it. I bought two copies - one for my playbook and one to have hangin' around the house!

If you are new to writing or consider yourself experienced yet wanting to develop your craft further this is a book you will do well with.

This is as important a writing-development book as is Josip Novakovich's "Writing Fiction Step by Step"

Nab both, as they exercise one's mind in different/complimentary ways.

Also nab Stein on Writing ( Sol Stein )

and Stephen Pinker's "A Sense of Style"

& a rhyming dictionary...
& look-out Whirled!

Bought this after I took the Coursera course from Berklee with Pat Pattison. This takes songwriting to a new level and opens the secrets of language to budding songwriters. Writing from the heart may be emotional, but writing with the brain also in gear makes it so much better. This is a must have for anyone looking to be a new or better songwriter.
