Follow-up game to 2007's critically acclaimed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the PlayStation 3 exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a continuation of the adventures of Nathan Drake, a fortune-hunter with a shady reputation and an even shadier past. Chock full of all the action, adventure, cinematic story elements and beautiful graphics that set the first game apart, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves adds deep online multiplayer options, including co-op and competitive campaigns, and a whole new supporting cast of characters, making it yet another must-have title for the PlayStation 3 platform.
In Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves fortune hunter Nathan Drake embarks on a journey that will push him to his physical, emotional and intellectual limits to discover the real truth behind the lost fleet of Marco Polo and the legendary Himalayan valley of Shambhala, more commonly known in the west as Shangri-La. In 1292 Marco Polo departed the court of Kublai Khan in China with 14 ships filled with over 600 passengers and crew. Eighteen months later only one ship remained and 18 passengers survived. Marco Polo never revealed what happened to these lost ships. Embarking on a quest to find the lost fleet, fortune hunter Nathan Drake soon realizes Marco Polo was hiding a much bigger secret - he had gone on a secret expedition to find the mythical kingdom of Shambhala and to recover the legendary Cintamani Stone, the "Wish-fulfilling jewel" of Buddhist mythology. With this new information Drake settles on a new course, following Marco Polo's trail through a diverse range of exotic environments. This quest also pits him against a new, more formidable adversary - a ruthless, rogue paramilitary leader with a private army and a relentless ambition to recover the stone for himself. Gameplay Although gameplay in Among Thieves is similar to that of the previous game, there are several major differences. The most important of these is the addition of several online multiplayer options. Unfortunately, no offline multiplayer could be included in the game due to the impact local split-screening has on the game's graphical quality. Thankfully though, the online modes included cover both co-op and competitive play. See the feature list below for details on these. In addition to play modes players can also expect a wealth of new gameplay features including a new stealth gameplay mechanic and altered climbing mechanic--both of which are extended to the AI of enemies; the ability to create cover by flipping over certain found items; the use of riot shields for defense and offense; and a complete lack of loading screens. YES! The Drake is back!,

This review is from: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Video Game)
If you loved the first one (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune), you'll definitely love the sequel. I've played through the first 8 chapters, and I would've gone on, but I figured 2.5 hrs of sleep are necessary--turns out I was wrong, you need more than that for your brain to function the next day. But no matter, I had a blast. The single player is more of the same, which is good, yet more polished, with a more fleshed out story, feels like a big-budget movie where the first one felt like a surprise hit, and there are minor improvements in each aspect of the gameplay that add up to a better over-all feel. Looks gorgeous as ever, with lush jungles, intricately detailed architecture, excellent animation; same excellent voice acting, same humorous take on adventure; much better hand-to-hand combat--it now has a counter-system, a minor tweak that makes you want to mix it up more than before; there's even an improvement in shooting--gone is the silly six-axis grenade control, and this time different guns actually feel different. There's some people (game journalists) complaining that the game still suffers from dumb AI, that enemies for example won't react to their compadres being out cold on the ground thanks to Drake. But in all honesty, if the game would have that level of realism, then it probably wouldn't be fun--it's fun to take out the bad guys, not as much fun if you had to clean up the area and carry them out of sight. I find it funny that reviews from people that didn't get to play the game get 2/2 helpful votes, mine is getting 0/? though we're all in agreement it's a 5/5 game. Aaaah, democracy at work... I miss father Stalin...Oops, I jumped the gun, things have been improving. So I guess I'm changing my tune and it's RIP father Stalin, you ugly degenerate bastard! UPDATES: I'm in chapter 24 now, and boy, this game never lets off. It just keeps piling on wow moments, gorgeous scenery, and overall awesomenessness (better then plain awesomeness). I played some online, and it is actually quite good, not just a tacked on, last minute decision; I especially liked the co-op play, where you and 2 other players take on side quests to the single player's story line. Very well done. Completed the game, got all the trophies--yey! The final battle is definitely more of a challenge. Getting 100 treasures requires an online guide, and "steel fist" is likely the hardest trophy to get--did it in Borneo, on easy with Slow Time; you run to enemies, shoot them once with the .45 and while they are knocked off balance melee attack them once; if that doesn't kill enemy, let Sully take him out, but make sure you get 5 in the first area, then 4 in the second, as the third area has a lot more enemies and things can get hectic.

Just wanted to say that I enjoyed the game very much. However, I was disappointed to find out that only 6 out of 100 treasures are included in the bonus 'treasure map'....this was very misleading. When I emailed Amazon to ask if this was a glitz, they did not reply until after I sent off the third email. That in itself is so shabby in terms of 'customer service'. They did finally answer my email after the 3rd email, but their explanation was very lukewarm. Not quite sure if I will buy video games from them in the future. It is much more easier to pre-order from EB games....at least you will get the game on the same day as the release.

If you liked the first game you will love this sequence. Everything is wonderful, the story, the graphics, gameplay, everything! However, while not disturbing, Why did not they produce the game with full resolution, only 720p? It doesnt matter.... 100% fun!!!
