Hack n' Slash Fun...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Champions of Norrath (Video Game)
This game is an incredibly fun RPG - great hack n' slash action, plenty of dungeons and other beautifully rendered environments, lots of cool weapons and the ability to modify your weapons with magical items (like "storm shards" for lightening damage, etc.). It is challenging at some points, but quite simple to learn the basics making it enjoyable for those of us new(er!) to the console RPG games.Very similar in style to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, but more opportunity to customize your characters attributes and spells. MUCH better than Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, which sort of fell flat in my opinion. The multiplayer, or cooperative approach (though I have not played online, so I cannot review that aspect), is great, as long as you share the goodies (as another reviewer wrote, it can cause fights! seriously!), and I cannot WAIT until Champions: Return to Arms arrives. Yes, when you replay the game in the "courageous" mode you are merely replaying the same game with more difficult enemies, but you get the COOLEST new weapons/equipment, and then you can import your level 30+ barbarian/cleric/wizard/dark elf/ranger into the new game that should be coming out in February 2005. Overall an EXCELLENT, fun game!

Best Action RPG,

Snowblind definitely has this style down. They made the original Boulders Gate, and now this. Sure there are a few flaws, but nothing that compromises the overall experience. You can even use your saved characters in the upcoming Return to Arms (con2). Sick, dope, this game is the bomb.

better than Diablo 2,
By A Customer
This review is from: Champions of Norrath (Video Game)
Champions of Norrath is very similar to Diablo 2, and if you like action RPGs, that's a great thing. The replay value is high because chances are you will want to expand your character's abilities by playing through the game again, and you will probably want to use different classes too. Multiplayer is not as great as people say it is. The lack of a trade interface and the fact that gold is not shared through party make playing with strangers an adventure in itself. The other players can either enhance your experience or just completely ruin it by robbing your gold and items and teleporting back to town when you don't want to. Minor bugs like the lag in voice is not important, but the game does freeze on you every once in a while, which is really annoying given the lack of save points in dungeons. Overall, it's more fun than Diablo 2, too bad it's got a few more bugs than it should have.
